I think that might be a part of it. That thread was a result of spuriousmonkey enacting revenge upon this site for whatever reasons. He decided to intentionally post "spurious" polls just to be a pain for the moderation team. Naturally it just helped him into another ban but Nik tends to follow spurious and might simply act out because of loyalty/sympathy to him.

I do hope he stops by.

. Politics happen on any site and that's nothing really new. With Nik, I am not trying to make a political situation as I am trying to reach out and genuinely express concern.

It's heading that way but that's not necessarily a good thing. Really Nik's participation is needed more than people agreeing, disagreeing, or being neutral.

While my OP is very direct, it is brought about by concern and Nik's non-participation in combination with his posting trends does suggest he might not have any constructive intent towards the forum. If that turns out to be the case then those whom argued for him get a big slap in the face. :{

Yes, you have made it quite clear that you like him and think he's funny. Even more clear that so long as you feel entertained, it really doesn't matter what his intentions are, doesn't matter what his results are, doesn't matter that he might be hurt, and doesn't matter that people might be concerned about him, others, and the forum.

You stated that if her husband really did not care for her would she claim the prize, when she stated that he does not care for her so she would not claim the prize...yet she states that he does not like her over and over and than says she does not care (or she does not like him) and thus contradicts herself since she immedeatly says she likes him, when she just said she does not care. Care and love is same thing.

 

That's an interesting interpretation. I bet that could be weeded out into a generic topic on its own.

 

To recap, this thread was born out of a concern. Nikelodeon has over 10,000 posts and the presence of 1-2 liner comedy bits, non-information, and subtle antagonism seem to take up the vast majority of his posts (I would guesstimate over 99% of his posts might be that way).

Since the threads inception several participants have taken neutral positions, several participant has taken positions of agreement, many participants took positions of disagreement (or a combination of agreement and disagreement), and one participant vandalized the thread.

To date the vast majority of disagreemnt has consisted of one message. Nik entertains me... a kind of booby prize at the sciforums door. A small subset of disagreement arose out of noting real contributions. Only one person (inzomnia) however was able to demonstrate real evidence of knowledge sharing and intent to help that dated back to some of Nik's original posts. That evidence appears to be restricted to the very beginning of those 10,000+ posts.

Those that did agree recognized and acknowledged the observations of the opening post and noted various points where Nik's posts / intentions appear to have turned from constructive, to non-constructive, to destructive. Although it is not know for certain, there is a hypothesis that part of this unusual posting phenomena is related to Nik's friendship with spurriousmonkey (a member whom was repeatdly banned and demonstrated alot of ill will to this site as a result). Being his friend, Nik might have felt hurt by the ordeal and sympathetic to spurious.

A question that naturally arises is what's in it for me? Why would I single someone out? The answer is that I care about the site and its members and I am concerned about Nik's posting trends suggest about his intentions. In my opinion, placing value in entertainment that encourages more 1-2 liner comedy bits, non-information, and subtle antagonism as a sole defining force for a partiular member is mean to that member. It doesn't give them the opportunity to expand into real discussion and grow. I for one don't want to encourage Nik to spam just to satisfy my desire to be entertained and that is certainly not fair to Nik.

So I ask the same question as I did in the OP. Not out of hate, not out of malice, not to set a trap, but out of concern. Nikelodeon, why are you here?

Should I also get a rope and prepare the gallows for him? I thought I made it clear that I am not trying to lynch-mob Nik but rather I am asking for his participation. As to whether or not there is a real problem I can't say for sure. Nik could clear that up rather quickly. Here is a subset of what I do know.

- 10000+ low quality posts.
- Evidence of intent to promote spurious forum (check his header).
- Evidence of intent to vandalize this forum (check the 'other forum' bitching section of spurious' forum).

Here are the last 20 of his posts:

So again, I can't say for sure if there is really a problem or not but it really comes down to intent in this case. Maybe everything I listed is a statistical anomoly. Maybe Nik really feels engaged and is expressing constructive intent the best he can. Maybe something else?

The point is, a little red flag has gone off and I am asking questions about it out of concern.

I'll clarify the message in case there was mis-interpretation. If you don't like to be bitten then don't bite (I seem to recall something about sucking a dead man's dick).

I think you're a good person and I like alot of your contributions to this site. That 'credit' will give you options, respect, and leeway. What it won't give you is a undue safety.

It would be great if he did.

Not sure what specific post is being referred to but generally spurrious' crew consists of banned members whom went to his forum and / or friends whom sympathize with spurious encountering some past unjust banning treatment.

I realized that I noticed Nik's changing far earlier,
but I didn't do much.

That day after the locking of this thread where Spurious nominated Nik to be
mod of Architecture & Eng (http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=73861),
nobody said anything (as far as I know). I think that the nomination was, like
you said, just to be pain for the moderator, and Nik himself actually did not
have any wish to be mod. But eventhough so, when admin locked the thread,
probably he felt unappreciated. Worse is, nobody tried to defend him.

If you read his post history, he still cheerful and all before the locking of the
thread. After the locking, he still posted one post the next day (27.11), and
then he was off for 3 days. On 30.11 he post one message, just commenting
on my coming exam result. At that time I haven't realized the change because
I was busy with other stuffs. So I just asked him, how is everything going on
with him. Two days after that (01.12) he post again one message to
this forum, just to say that he is "dead":

Maybe he was trying to send me message that he feel sad or disappointed,
but I thought he was joking as usual. So I (and some other) replied with joke.
But, he did not reply our joke, he post nothing for 3 weeks. So I sent him some PMs.
I sent PM already on 30.11, and then 04.12-08.12, he replied me just like normal.
So I thought he was just not in the mood to post.

He started to posting again on (20.12, but he was changing. He became
a bit cynical and he also didn't talk to me (but there are so many people in
this forum, maybe its not possible to talk to everyone). But I started to think
something was really wrong with him. So on 24.12 I sent him PM again,
I asked him, whether he had problem. Its not ethical to repost PM on public,
but I can say that his reply was positive. He said me he is ok and then he

But like you see, he is apparently not ok! I am not close with Nik, I mean,
I've been trying to be formal friend with everyone (because this is just
internet), but like you, I do also sometimes notice when things are unusual.
I just don't know what to do about it. I wanted to say something when his
thread was locked by admin, but I have no enough courage. Besides, I
understand admin decision, there was no urgent need of moderation for forum
which is among the least active subforums. Uhm.. maybe it was the approach
that a bit uhm.. cold.

Uhm, I wanted to say something also to Zak.. Zak, I dont think you should be
against Crunchy Cat, you see CC actually expressing concern for Nik. CC cares
for Nik and for the forum well-being as well. Anyway CC, I suggest you to
send PM to Nik. I am sure he already read this thread, and he has time in hands
because you see he is still posting on other subforums today. Maybe PM will
work.
