New, Improved Obamacare Program Released On 35 Floppy Disks

WASHINGTON—Responding to widespread criticism regarding its health care website, the federal government today unveiled its new, improved Obamacare program, which allows Americans to purchase health insurance after installing a software bundle contained on 35 floppy disks. “I have heard the complaints about the existing website, and I can assure you that with this revised system, finding the right health care option for you and your family is as easy as loading 35 floppy disks sequentially into your disk drive and following the onscreen prompts,” President Obama told reporters this morning, explaining that the nearly three dozen 3.5-inch diskettes contain all the data needed for individuals to enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace, while noting that the updated Obamacare software is mouse-compatible and requires a 386 Pentium processor with at least 8 MB of system RAM to function properly. “Just fire up MS-DOS, enter ‘A:\>dir *.exe’ into the command line, and then follow the instructions to install the Obamacare batch files—it should only take four or five hours at the most. You can press F1 for help if you run into any problems. And be sure your monitor’s screen resolution is at 320 x 200 or it might not display properly.” Obama added that the federal government hopes to have a six–CD-ROM version of the program available by 2016.

It's a joke. Do you not know "the ONION? While it is beyond doubt Secretary Sebelius really botched the website development and deployment, it doesn't mean Obamacare is bad law or that the program will not be successful. All the data thus far indicates Obamacare will be a very successful program in spite of the botched website deployment.

I opened the thread Joe - yes I subscribe to The Onion and watch their channel regularly. Why do you think I put the BIG logo on the bottom of the page and put this in "Art and Culture"? You know, where comedic performance may find an audience?

Perhaps I may suggest you ask your attendant to pull milady's royal panties out - they've wedged themselves into a bunch

As for ObamaCare, it probably couldn't be anywhere near worse than the fascist top-down State-run, State-regulated, State-educated, State-sanctioned, State-licensed, State-screwed medical 'healthcare'* system we currently endure... enjoy. Yes, the State has it's Fat Fingers all over this aspect of our lives just as it does every other aspect. Everything 'healthcare' from training, limiting, regulating and licencing (for all types of licences 'healthcare' professional - you know, because we're too f*cking stupid to do that ourselves) to placing State-backed-by-a-gun-in-your-face legal RESTRICTIONS on the number of fMRI services that can legally be offered in a city (you need to prove to the State a city requires an additional fMRI before you could legally open an fMRI service). You know, not to keep the prices of fMRI skyhigh, but because State-knows-best and we little people are just to f*cking stupid to organize ourselves without the help of Mammy and Pappy.

So, is it surprising the State is about to regulate and control this last aspect healthcare? No. Too bad to, if we had stuck with a free-market in healthcare, we'd have cheap high-quality healthcare instead of the massively overpriced crummy disease-care we get instead. Public health is in the exact same state as Public Housing, expect it to remain there ObamaCare or no ObamaCare.

Oh, and I find it of no surprise, that you Joe, of anyone, would support ObamaCare. Of course you would! Take from the poor and the weak (the Millennial generation - your grandchildren) and give to the BabyBoomers! Waaaaht? Greedy Babyboomer taking as much as they can, eating through the planet, and leaving a desolate waste to their kids and grandkids and great grandkids - no, really? Shocking.

Yeah, we never saw that one coming :bugeye:

Public schools (which are crap to begin with) are having their funding cut to support retiring babyboomers. Is it any surprise these bastards would stick their grandkids with their medical bills?

LOL, there are reasons why no wealthy country has adopted your ideology. There is a reason why the US, until Obamacare, was the only wealthy country without universal access healthcare. There are reasons why prior to Obamacare, the quality of US healthcare has been in free fall whilce costs have been rising at twice the growth in income. Obamcare addresses those issues. What the state is doing with Obamacare is opening the industry to competition. I makes providers accountable for results.

Prior to Obamacare the US healthcare system was in many ways like the old Soviet economy. Quantity was rewarded rather than quality. Now under Obamacare, quality is rewarded rather than quantity and every gets access to affordable healthcare. Now everyone who can afford to pay for healthcare pays. The free-riders are gone. So the healthcare burden is paid more equitably throughout the population.

The problem with your libertarian ideology is, we have been there and done that and it didn't work. So while you may think denial of healthcare, starving and homeless individuals are key to your utopian state, most people disagree.

And there's a reason why all wealthy societies become Progressive Fascist States.

ObamaCare is the last giveaway to the Babyboomers. It's there to ensure the millennial generation is stuck with their grandparents medical bills.

By so-called 'burden' you mean the now aged Babyboomers and by 'everyone' you mean their grandkids. How nice of you. Not only did your generation borrow your way to being the richest generation in history (yeah, life is good when you're selling 30year T bills on your kids and grandkids future labor), not only did your generation destroy most ecosystem's on planet earth, not only did your generation destroy our society and our monetary system - but you're too good to pay for your own medical bills so you're sticking your grandkids with the f*cking bill.

The fact is most of your generation will not be working when your generation starts racking up the medical entitlements. Well, we'll see how you guys fair. Because I'm thinking your grandkids may just have had enough. If so, expect to get all that you gave and then some in return.

What fantasy land do you live in? We have had a central bank centrally planning our economy since 1913 (that is NOT Libertarian - that's Progressive Fascism), we have general income tax (again, not Libertarian - that's Progressive Fascism), we have MASSIVE military machine (again, NOT Libertarian - that's Progressive Fascist) around the world and you little fascists have brought us the Great Depression, WWII, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War I and II, War on Drugs, War on Terror and now War on Privacy and NSA spying on all Citizens - as well as countless other wars all around the world. Your generation destroyed the economy and with it the social contract.

SO yes, you're right, there's a reason why we have a f*cked economy / society - including healthcare. But, don't worry, I'm fairly confident your grandkids will get sick and tired of slaving to pay back all the debt your generation left them. But, they're not as dumb as your generation - and they're still young enough to start over, at least once they give a nice big kick to the oven door closing the chapter on your generation's ilk.

As for ObamaCare - yes, Public Healthcare will be as good as all the other 'Social Services' the State provides - like our Public Housing, Public Schooling, Public Roads, Public Toilets, etc.. It will be overly expensive and of poor quality.

Yes, the Government does such a wonderful job that when it makes a total mess of something as they have with their healthcare website - do they turn to a Governmental Agency to FIX their mess? Nope. See, when the government wants something done right, they turn to what's left of the free-market: HHS brings in Verizon to help HealthCare.gov

WASHINGTON — The international telecommunications company Verizon has been tasked with helping the government fix the federal health exchange, USA TODAY has learned. An informed source in the telecommunications industry said Verizon's Enterprise Solutions division has been asked by the Department of Health and Human Services to improve the performance of the HealthCare.gov site, which is a key component of the Affordable Care Act.

It must seem confusing to you little State-bots that the government says it can fix healthcare (which is really disease-care, not health-care) because the free-market can't seem to provide quality healthcare cheaply and efficiently, oh, but the State can, even though it can't seem to fix it's own website. Yes, the same people telling you THEY will fix healthcare because the free market is broken has to turn to the free-market to fix it's own website because no agency in the government has the competence to fix their own mess.

Like I said, your belief in the State is no different than any other religious superstitious mumbo-jumbo.

The FACT is, under our Fascist State "Regulated" healthcare system you're just as likely to DIE of your medical treatment as to be healed. Medical Malpractice is now the #6 killer! Thanks to State regulations we have over-priced, low quality disease-care. Yes, the State did it's job wonderfully - it ensured the price of medicine remained HIGH and continued to do so. ObamaCare was written BY the healthcare industry for christ's sake. Unlike in a free-market where healthcare would be of high quality and cheap, just like smart phones and plentiful food with lots of choice we have a highly regulated healthcare crap industry that's now the sixth greatest killer of citizens. How pathetic.

And Joe, you have the gall to say Libertarianism failed. Only a religious fruit-loop can look at what 100 years of Progressive Fascism has brought to the world, look at you straight in the face and blather something about Libertarianism, a view shared by 0.3% of the population. The State is your religion.

the US is not a fascist country. only someone with gross ignorance on politics, economics, and english would think that. progressive fascism is an oxymoron. your ideology is far more akin to fascism than progressivism.
secondly in your rush to show your ignorance and bash something that helping someone other than an elite like yourself is that every major software release has issues. anyone with a shred of honesty and understanding knew there was going to be hiccups not because it was flawed but on any sort of major software release the only way to find every bug is to release and see how it holds up.
nothing fascist about the affordable care act. though if you got your way we'd all be going to for profit hospitals which are the least efficient and have the worst outcomes. though its funny you rail against social democrotism(which you dishonestly call progressive fascism) while living in oine such country australia and enjoying the benefits of such while demanding the least such first world state go to libertarianism( a term which was stolen from the anachist soscialists who you know actually support liberty) and destroy its self.

What a negative obviously prejudice view to take.
I for one congratulate Obama and the USA for finally making some effort to have Universal health care....
We in Australia had it implemented in 1972/3 by our greatest ever PM Gough Whitlam and his Labor party after 23 years of conservative government.
Our's is simply a levy on annual earnings of 1.5% for low and middle income earners and 2.5% for higher income earners.
The extra 1% levy can be waived if private insurance is taken out.

Interesting you would say "Citizen". What? Don't you care about the healthcare of children outside your country? It's OK for you to wear the cloths and shoes they make you - but you don't feel you own them anything in return? You don't care about childrens health? You don't think you they are entitled to be free from easily cured disease while people in your own country die of $1 million heart attacks from drinking too much beer/soda and eating too much fating food?

    That's interesting.

Fascism and Progressivism go together like hand in glove.
Maybe you should look past the word "Progressivism" and read about the ideology.

    Progressive Era
Much like their German cousins, many Progressives also believed in Eugenics. Progressives also supported the ban on alcohol. They also 'modernized' the education system - it's the one have now, the one pumping out workers like cogs by the 10s of millions. See, to a Progressive - THAT is progress!

Progressives Fascists have no problem taxing laborer's for the privilege of working - they needed their Central Bank and it needed the Income Tax to fund their Wars overseas where they were to bring "Democracy" and "American Exceptionalism" to the uncivilized and unwashed masses of the rest of the world.

Yes, this is VERY VERY different compared to Libertarians who believed in sound money, law, trade and the non-aggression principle. Libertarians (0.3% of the population) understand that the Scientific Method can not be applied to macroeconomic, psychology and theology. Libertarians understand that education is a art and abhor the notion of treating children like cogs to be pumped through a Progressives School system only to find out that their $25,000 a year X 12 years education have left them bereft of the very foundation of education - functional literacy!

So, take a good look around at our "TBTF" Fascist Banking system and see the end result of Progressive Fascism.

You don't see ANY IRONY that the Government, this wonderful magical fantasy land that's going to fix the mess THEY MADE of healthcare - turning it into disease-care, HAS to resort to the free-market to get it's website done!?!?! Ha!!! The same government that's going to "fix" healthcare (making the argument the 'free market' in healthcare is broken) immediately turns to the free-market when they needed their own god-damn website fixed! Let's see, there's only about 2-3 MILLION government employees - you think one of them could fix it?

    Nope.

When the truth is staring you in the fact this straight, and you still refuse to see it - you should know you're religious.

Yes, it IS Fascist - the god damn industry wrote the act!

As for 'profit', in a true free market, with sound money - profit making hospitals would be a GREAT sign that those hospitals are doing something good. But look at the way you are using the word profit - in exactly the opposite manner. Which shows you how f*cked up 100 years of Central Planning by our Central Bankers have totally f*cked the monetary system. When profit is seen as evil, and may well be, then you know the system is total broken. Well, don't blame the 0.3% Libertarians. Blame the 99.7% Fascist Progressive Democrips/Rethuglicans.

no they don't progressivism is about equality. Fascism is about protecting the elites like other anti freedom ideologies like libertarianism.

never said the ideology was perfect that's the difference between me and you. You blindly believe nothing bad can come from your ideology.

this tired lie again? Honestly I don't know how you haven't been banned for intellectual dishonesty the way you flat out make shit up and attack the English language with your definitions. Labor isn't taxed. Income is. Which is why rent incomes are taxed and working for habitat for humanity isn't.

More of the same ignorant bullshit. Though given your belief in the Austrian schools axiomatic unscientific economic views that permeate your libertarian views probably explains your confusion on economics. The scientific method can be used in macroeconomics very few mainstream economists take your view that economics can't be approached scientifically. And the failures of our education system having nothing to do with progressivism but people who share your right wing views anti-intellectualism. And again progressivism and fascism are polar opposites. One believes in freedom and protects freedom for all the other like libertarianism ensures freedom for the elites and scrapes for the rest. Progressivism and it's it follow up social democrat ism are the only ideologies that offer a stable platform of governance and freedom for all. Libertarianism can't do this because it equates money and economic power with freedom.

actually it was the free market that messed it up. Their is a reason every place that has universal healthcare spends less than us and had better outcomes

the guy repaying ideological talking points and doesn't understand concepts taught in Econ 101 shouldn't be calling anyone's views religious in nature

No it isn't. And while yes it was a boon to the industry it was pushed by free market extremists like your self. So congrats on that. And that you think regional currency would be sound is laughable. Profit making hospitals will never be doing good because patient outcomes don't matter making money does. So in your view the reason for profit hospitals spend more money on administration and have worse patient outcomes is the government? That's quite literally the stupidest thing you have ever said.

    That is false.

Also, as has been pointed out to you many times, you don't know what the word "fascist" means. But you have here acknowledged the primacy of capitalistic industry in earning the label - you had earlier denied that aspect of it. So, progress.

The Federal government of the US has been failing at computerization for decades (the various police and Security folks can't use each others databases, the airline control towers are running on 25 year old software, etc). A situation in which a good share of the people involved actually want some computerization to fail is probably hopeless.

But the State setups are working OK, by and large.

No, progressivism is not about 'equality' it's the idea that advances in science and technology lead to economic development and together with top-down social re-organization will improve the human condition. The idea was based on the notion Europe had 'Progressed' past much of the rest of the world and it was up to them 'Europeans' (and Americans) to help the poor backwards unwashed masses in the rest of the world achieve the same level of "Progress" as they had - even if it meant a bit of force was required to get the job done (see: GW Bush Jr., Obama, Clinton, etc... and American Exceptionalism).

While it is true that science and technology change society - it's not always for the better. See: Nuclear Bombing of Japan. See: Gunning down of Colonies. See: Freedom Fries and Drones above Iraq. See: NSA

The fundamental problem with Progressives is their willingness to use force to so-called 'help' society. And the irony is, it's not 'Science' that makes a society progressive - it's the free ability to trade. Which requires sound money, law and private property. The USSR had very good scientists. It certainly did NOT result in a progressive society. AND, the War we're fighting against Terror in the ME, THAT is Progressivism. It's the idea that we have the right to go into the 'backwards' middle east with there superstition non-sense and replace it with our "Progressive" culture of science, technology and of course our own superstition: Democracy. Which is interesting given the founding fathers had very little to no faith in democracy. Which is why the general public was only allowed to vote for State representative and the House. All other political 'servants' were chosen for them. Which, considering the federal government was so small, was fine. Ever wonder how this tiny little social institution called the Federal Government grew to into the massive institution it is today? It's ability to initiate force against innocent people. Example: Forcing people to buy ObamaCare and fining them if they don't.
