Sorry but mac and windows both suck ^^^ thou us windows for game ><. Linux is way better then both of them by far =P

rGEMINI - You might want to read a thread before posting. I've already mentioned Linux a couple of times. Hell, OS-X *IS* just Linux with pretty little Apple cosmetics added.

Well, everybody rushes to be like them; that's the big hint.

Since the PARC ripoff at least, Apple has consistently led the way. Macs are more expensive just like a Porsche is more expensive than a Geo. It depends on what you want, need, or desire. Admittedly, a starving artist or a student on loans and grants doesn't need a Porsche anymore than the game-and-porn crowd needs a Macintosh; some needs are perfectly suited to lesser products.

 

Don't forget the 3D animator crowd like myself

It's all about what you want/need and personal taste. I have a G4 and 2 Win XP boxes I think OSX is lovely but I still prefer XP.

 

... really why do you prefer the xp??

 

It seems more intuitive and easier to modify to get it to be just how I want it to me, again down to personal taste. OSX is abit more sluggish on my G4 than XP is on my amd box, though a G5 would probably take care of that. Also the amount of plug and play and software support can't be matched by the mac, simply a by product of MS having the major market share.

 

Yeah - I always used Mac's up until College. But now the diversity of things I need to do just make it not a realistic choice anymore. I do full bore flight simulation with external yoke, pedals & avionics (working on my real Private liscense so I need the realism). I do local and regional computer directed radio scanning (using PC only RF interfaces & software), and additionally I am constantly upgrading, moving components around, building new machines, making little tweaks, overclocking, running multiple OS's - sometimes on the same machine as a multi-boot setup . . . . anways -- a closed architecture with less hardware/software choices doesn't appeal to me.
