Wow! This guy blew me away!!! This is the most powerful speech I've seen in this election cycle. The father of a deceased, Muslim, US soldier, speaks his mind and puts Trump in his place. Damned powerful! This needs to be used in campaign ads and run as often as possible.

I must admit also that I am somewhat caught up in the history of the moment. I've never been a Hillary fan but here we are. Trump's the opponent and she has my complete support regardless of any differences that there may be between her goals and mine. So when I look at her now, not only do I see our next President, I see history being made. Kudos to the Democratic Party for taking the next step and ushering a new era. I was deeply moved by this when the moment came.

    Putin
    http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/28/politics/donald-trump-vladimir-putin-quotes/

He wans to use torture - a war crime
He wants a religious test - a crime against the Constitution
He wants to round up 10 million people using Gestapo style tactics
He has called for the mass murder of innocent people - the families of terrorists

Now he has asked Russia to subvert a US Presidential election, arguably a treasonous act. He also seeks to undermine our NATO alliance which has kept the peace for 60 years.

Trump's response was to attack Muslims. He suggested that the mother didn't speak because she's not allowed to speak [another backhanded attack on Islam]. She has since explained that she was too emotional to speak.

Let's be clear: He slimed the parents of a man who died in battle and risked his life to protect others - a US soldier who is now honored as a hero. Yet he claims he supports the troops? He slimed McCain for getting captured. Only losers get captured. Yet he claims he supports the troops. I guess he only supports the troops who aren't losers - you know, the ones who don't die or get captured.

Mr. Kahn, the father of the fallen soldier, has suggested that Trump needs to be taught how to empathize with others - someone in his family should teach him that. Trump only reinforced that notion by utterly failing to grasp the emotions that a mother and father of a fallen soldier might be feeling. The problem I see with Mr Kahn's suggestion is that empathy isn't something that can be taught. Most of us are born with the ability to empathize with others. Those born without an ability to empathize with others are called psychopaths. And I strongly suspect Mr. Kahn had identified the problem with Trump.

But, hey, he built towers with his name on and got successful, so what's that guy's puny scripted story in comparison?

No, Putin, who is sane, smart and calculating, probably would not want this uncontrolled idiot's fat itchy fingers on a nuclear button. Neither would the US military want him as their commander in chief, and the secret services - all 16 of them, or however many there are by now - must be burning out their shredders as we speak. If Trump becomes president, we'd all better be prepared to kiss our asses goodbye. The very least bad outcome is another, less focused, civil war in the US... unless there is a military coup first.

It's that important for Clinton to win.

No. Mr. Kahn's speech should not be part of an election campaign, or any other manipulative, self-serving scheme. One time, it was a plea to defeat the man who wants to deport him. Eendlessly repeated, it would become cheap and commercial. The organizers and designers of the Democratic convention are superb show/wo/men, with excellend judgment of pacing, proportion and tone. I hope they continue to do as good a job through the campaign.

They're backing a sane, smart, reasonably competent, well-connected and possibly well-intentioned (if not particularly honest or forthcoming) adult, against a petulant, ignorant, self-absorbed, destructive baby. Trump is throwing tantrums on behalf of all the other immature, undereducated Americans the Republican party has been deliberately firing up for decades and pointing at all the wrong targets. He'll say anything they'll cheer, because he can't get enough external validation.

The only effective counter to that is calm, sanity and hope.
