I was wondering what eveyone's thought are on the file sharing program Morpheus? It pissed alot of people off in the industry, but the rest seem to not mind at all! Any thoughts? bjl
Morphus along with other file sharing programs have open the world to free media. how anyone can think that they are bad is a moron and are just being greedy, it is free publicity. if a company is caught with hacked or cracked software they face a 100k fine for each copy. personal use is small and most people arn't smart enough to use the file sharing for it's true potential. besides software is a rip spaning $650 for adobe photoshop and $1200 for autocad 2000i. if these cost can be justifed or if it is just price gougeing it makes no difference unless i was rich i could not justify spending that much on software
I have joined forces with one of my friends and we download movies, progs, mp3 and sell them for 3$ a CD. That is, we share our collection, but not the profit. KaZaA and Morpheus are great! the theft of copyright in the laws eye is black and white but in my eye for personal use it is gray. How can companies expect the general consumer to afford there prices. you can spend the same amount of money on a computer and an operating system. I agree that the people that did the work should reap the benifits but at a cost that can be justified. if it wasn't for file sharing I would have never gotin to use photoshop and never relizing how much i like it and how good i am. if some is to profit from hacked or cracked software that i don't agree entirely with but to use for personal use and to learn then i say go for it. go rent Anti-Trust and see what i meen. how much money do u really need.....where to draw a line is the question..utopian society no but open source and an end to price gougeing yes
I do not feel bad about distributing soft. in our country only about 8% of people get access to inet and only about 20% of them to a cable or DSL. so many of my friends (main custumers) are quite happy with my actions, because there is no other way for them to get tht soft as cheap as I sell. and the cost is primaly for the CD's, my net-time and hardware usage. I do not gain really big profit from this. only about 1$ to 1.5$ per cd and tht in no way is considered much . Cheers!
ok.. i like file sharing... being a big fan of anime... only way i have access to it at times is through fan subs i download.. but i also download mp3s/movies/programs/etc but i dont blame people to much for opposing file sharing.. they did work and expect to be paid.. i consider it ver reasonable.. how would any of use feel if we were to be ripped off... what i do not agree with is attempting to limit the use of our computers to prevent it... or even telling me i shouldnt be allowed to own a vcr or pvr.. how do you feel about all the attempts/discussions to create hard ware which would not work with pirated software an early attempt at this was the windows xp keygen issue..
i think file sharing is a fine thing, but Morpheus is baaaaaaad! i've never once found anything i was looking for on it. try winmx.
I download songs now and then. If I like a song, I tend to buy the CD it's from. So the bands are not missing out on my money, I'm still doing my little bit to keep them in business.
