A soldier recently hit a million dollar jackpot, yet still plans to volunteer for a third tour in Iraq.

Yes it is. It's good to see we still have a few people like that left.

It's too bad we don't know what to do with people like that. If we did we would get somewhere.

Yes. Very honorable. Anyone remember Specialist Pat Tillman?
He forewent a contract with the Arizona Cardinals football team to go fight with the Rangers in Afghanistan.

I hope Sgt. Leyde gets back home in one piece, and while $1 million US Dollars (- tax) still have enough value to substantially improve his life.

madanthonywayne: "[he] plans to volunteer for a third tour in Iraq."

    nietzschefan: "Honorable."

madanthonywayne:"It's good to see we still have a few people like that left."

    mikenostic: "Very honorable."

Can somebody explain to me what such honorable voluntary efforts are accomplishing for the USA in Iraq?

I agree. Honorable? Freaking moron comes to my mind. Specially that he had been there twice, so he is done with his duty to imperial interest.

Good point. Well, Harry was there to get his rite of passage, maybe this dude too, although with his 2 tours he already accomplished that. You know, 20 years ago I could have seen that people bought the government's lies easily, but in the age of internet how hard is it to figure out what's going on?
Well, obviously for some, it is pretty hard...

In a nutshell, Sgt. Leyde isn't a British Prince. More specifically, Prince Harry's world-class celebrity, fortune, and value to the enemy as a hostage or victim aren't Leyde-like at all.

I see nothing honourable in fighting in an illegal war.

Wow, how nice of him to volunteer for an unnecessary war.

Sure. While I also think the Iraq war is unnecessary, it's the fact that he is willing to go serve his country even when he doesn't have to. Sure it would make a bit more sense if he was in Afghanistan, rather than Iraq, but it's the same principle.

It's probably because he realized how little 1 million dollars is worth these days and that he'll have to keep working even with that much in the bank. ;)

Innocent civilian deaths in the 100s of 1000s, infrastructuce destroyed, economy destroyed, sewage all over the place, water being auctioned off to companies who sell it back to the Iraqis.... etc...
