In a system with "free" health care preventative medicine is better, because it means less tax dollars spent on treatment later. In a private health care system preventative medicine means less money for private organizations. It's a lot more profitable to treat a disease than it is to cure or prevent it.
Of course! LOL! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Yes. Communism was never proven not to work. USSR put it in practice very poorly. And they didn't have the technology required to manage a massive government. All those forms of government are really just resource management systems. Capitalism is the most resource-oriented one while Communism is the most people-oriented one. Both have its positives and drawbacks. I don't believe communism could easily work, though...
Capitalism ain't doin' so hot either. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Why is it when the topic of what to do about the USA's healthcare and spiraling cost, yadda, yadda, the issue of Big Pharma and AMA doctor costs so seldom comes up? However, I've worked in a place that received $ from medicare/caid, and I don't want to be on that!
Well, isn't the whole issue about cost? Capitalism: each pay his own medical bills. Socialism: everyone pays a little bit as insurance, so that it is accessible to everyone. In terms of functionality, the socialist one is better, as it involves an insurance and the cost is spread out to the whole population (and the richer happens to pay a little bit more, because they can afford). The problem with the socialist one is that if there are still not enough funds, then there are line-ups. This, however, will only happen according to demographics. In a country where a lot of people are over 60, it is natural that the system will be overwhelmed! Anyways... regardless of whether medicine is accessible to everyone or not, someone has to pay the price- whether is the individual or the society, through taxes. Oh, and Big Pharma.... yes. Well, the government empowers them. So that's the fault of our governments. They probably have friends on BigPharma. The same for the doctors here in Canada, who are essentially paid to avoid diagnosing patients....
Well what I mean is folks just seem to want to talk about how the bill will be paid, and the spiraling cost... No one, not many anyway, seems willing to work toward reigning that in. No one in Gov't that is. Can't say I'm suprised, tho. GWB's daddy, (ya know the one Saddam wanted to kill)GWHB, was on the board of Lily pharmacuticals. Just one of many connections...Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Yup. You would think the consitution makes provisions on cases of conflict of interest, but I do not recall any of such written on it. Neither in Canada nor the US...
