Seriously, this thing is freaking awesome. Imagine the productivity gains that will be made. This'll be fantastic for the economy.

Incidentally, Japan recently built a fully automotive laptop factory. The entire laptop is built without any need for Chinese "Slave Labor" (that should make Progressive Socialists very happy). Apparently it costs a bit more to make, but the error rate is near zero. In Kyoto they opened up an entirely automated vegetable farm. The entire process, from seed to harvest, requires no need of human labor (that should make Progressive Socialists very happy, no need to work the fields). Apparently it's quite a savings in terms of energy and output. Low waste too.

So, along comes Atlas. This'll be fantastic. No more need to pay someone 10-15 dollars and hour "Slave Wages" to stand behind a counter and take an order, or prepare the order, or serve the order.

Pretty cool stuff. Imagine what these will be like in 10 years. Truly astonishing

Now they just need to develop an automated vegetarian and they can eliminate humans entirely.

What are you going on about? Atlas is like a modern day equivalent of the tractor in the 1800s. Yes, it puts a lot of low skilled people out of work, and that's a good thing. Because then they aren't left to plow the fields by hand in back breaking dangerous work. Our lives are better for the tractor and will be much better for Atlas and his companions. Why should the poor be stuck in a hot kitchen or standing for hours taking an order? They shouldn't! Soon they won't have to.

Honda seems to be quite a bit ahead of the competition.
    IMO

Of course Boston Dynamics, had a ton of money funneled to it through our military via DARPA before Alphabet bought them. So, who knows?

I love what the Japanese at Honda are doing with their robots, aesthetically. Asimo looks really great

Together with advances in 3D printing, solar energy and the blistering speed at which biomed is advancing, things are looks fantastic for the future.

i swear to god i can feel my brain cells commit suicide for having read the idiocy of your posts. is there a plan in place to ensure that they can get employment and take care of them selves after you've rendered their jobs obsolete? if not all you've done is ensure they starve or become criminals. like i said what people like you get is there is always a price and its always paid. it is only a good thing when you have a realistic plan to deal with the consequences. or what you call slavery.

What are you going on about? There was no 'plan in place' to ensure farm hands were given jobs and 85% of workers will replaced by tractors and other machines in relatively short order over 100 years ago. At a time when productivity was much lower and there were little, if any, social safety nets.

In a free-market, they'd be allowed to go off and start their own jobs. Believe it or not, but not everyone wants or needs to be employed. Many people would like to start their own business. In a free market, it's not that hard to do so. For example, why is it that pink-slime is 'Regulated' as safe to eat, but God damn if you sell fresh open air BBQ chicken or dare to sell fresh milk. Oh, that's "Illegal". Because Americans are too stupid to buy and sell from each other without Nanny State / Rent-Seekers using regulatory capture to ensure we're all 'safe' from one another.

In a free-market, with sound currency, machine labor will drive DOWN the price of goods produced. No one produces goods that people cannot afford. No one is going to open a fully automatic restaurant that has no customers. Vending machines compete with 7-11 on some items, no one keeps open a 7-11 OR continues to service a vending machine unless people are purchasing these goods.

Also, in a free-market, many people would simply stop working altogether. Which would be fantastic. That's the whole point. Believe it or not, but in high tech Japan, it's still somewhat the norm for women to remain at home and raise families. If the parent is good, this is a boon for society as children are healthier (mentally and physically) when raised by their mother and not a day supervisor. Why would it be better if children go without a mother at home, so that this mother can stand in front of grease pit making french fries??? It wouldn't. Let the robot make the fries, let the mother raise her children.

Of course, our central bank purposely destroys the value of our currency through a mandated 2% inflation. Which is fan-f*cking-tastic for the SlumLords who have their debts written off. It sort of sucks for the working poor who have to rent from them.

So, if you want to know the solution to your question, it's quite simple: Free-markets, sound currency and laws that protect property and uphold contract. This is what will ensure low skilled labor is given an opportunity to provide value for sound-money in a high tech society.

In the mean time, vote for the POTUS who will take on the criminal bankers destroying our economy - starting with the Fed. Vote for the POTUS who will tax the SlumLords to the point where they lose interest in being a slumlord and do something productive.
