metaphor has a freedom of using anything - talking bird, walking snake and so on..
what is going on in the mind of an elephant is one of the hardest things to assess and in sometimes leads to fatal mistakes. I will never go near an elephant that stands still. In the absence of any gesture and body languages, in no way you can be sure of the mood of an elephant just from its 'facial expressions' !.
unlike bible wherein stated that god createed humans in his image, hindus don't think that god is having a fixed form. this would explain why god is expressed in various metophorical forms.. in case of elephantine god, the messsage is 'don't assess the mind of god as you feel fit, if you are wrong then you are done'.
This forum is pretty lively, though it gets off the track an awful lot! What happened to meditation? Shushupti, you know perhaps this guy can be your teacher? What better teacher than one who really shows you what you've got to work on?
Anomalous, isn't it possible that when you point at all these guys and say that they are wrong, they are fanatical, stupid, confused, that these qualities may be in you too? In Buddhism this is called "mirror mind" and in Western psychology, it's "projecting". We are all pretty confused, to be honest, so why shout at the others, better try to see if there isn't some truth to what they are saying and learn about our own confusion first, don't you think?
I agree, having a clear mind on things is the most important. Then other things (including life) will be easy.

Umm are you sure? if you never fantasized in your early teens, where's the life and its clarity? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I wonder if Gondolin is still checking the thread he had started... A very interesting source is J. Krishnamurti, who taught that meditation should flow through every moment of our lives and not just be confined to the half an hour on the cushion. He also rejected any will-imposed method of meditating, arguing that we are already so mechanical and controlled, that far from learning another method and subjugating ourselves to it, we need to get in touch with a source of creativity and of living spontaneously, free of second-hand notions and prejudices. Some Zen teachers also advocate similar style of meditation, where you tune into what is, broaden and deepen your awareness, etc.. If anyone is really interested I could try to post some materials and let you know of the url.
Oh, of course! All information is welcomed.
I told the same to whitewolf today in this forum. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Haven't read mr. Krishnamurti though,
but I try tuning in, with some late success I should say.
I write most of my poems so, without thinking, just putting my fingers on keyboard and allowing them to flow.
Oh dear, on a keyboard! Use a pen. A feather, even.
Doesn't work that way. Keyboard is like a harp, a pen needs more physical force and concentration to use.
My thought flows better out of a pen. Scribbles all around, in all various handwritings my hand posesses. I can write in mirror image, too. The way the pen moves against the paper really excites me.
First of all instead of discussing About Meditation U people have being talking other Crap over that U dont even want check if what U know is right, hence the above statement is wrong, U seem to be a brahimin , sham on you
Meditation is not sitting in a corner and saying aummmmm,
it's mostly not a physical activity.
Meditation is about knowing yourself and what a self is.
Without that meditation is just a breathing exercise.
I am really sorry if what U say is right. the moon thing I had been hearing it from my childhood, Specially from the times when man landed moon, but I was not born then. Why dont U islamics use internet to bust the myths about your religion that will create a peaceir world. but for that first U should start collecting these myths instead of pushing them as irrelevant comments, thats doing lot of damage to U in the world.
Yazdajerd You seem to be a lot sensible person to me, being a muslim. May god help U.
You silly thing (sorry), myths are symbolic, they are not factual happenings.
Learn, learn, learn, then a bit more, then come here again,
and then someone maybe will want to teach you.
the problem is lack of humility and communication thats why.
Yazdajerd is certainly a very patient and tolerant person, hats off to him/her!
See, just as well as about christianity and politics: "wrooong!" "this is what the book says!" "no, you read it wrong!"
I am with you there, Anomalous, humility and communication. We can certainly have more of them, and also respect and thoughfullness.
That will make U a fundamentalist as U will never see all aspects of life, infact U might close all sources of knowledge itself.
