Greetings... I'm working on a project and part of my research was re-watching the Matrix. Somehting struck me as odd so I'm hoping some Matrix fans can help me out here: OK, Cypher drops into the matrix to discuss terms with Agent Smith; uhh... how the hell does he manage this? I'll give the benefit of the doubt here and say maybe he could have rigged something up to drop himself in no problem, but how could he have gotten out of the matrix without an 'operator'??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Again, perhaps it was automated. All the crew of Morpheus' ship had been super-hackers, after all, and I'm sure Cypher could have written a program to sever his Matrix connection at a certain signal from within his brain (or simply set the connection to time-out). Or perhaps, having accepted his agreement to betray Morpheus & the others in return for a promised life of luxury, Agent Smith deliberately released Cypher to complete the task. There's a thought: Cypher asked that he be permanently re-integrated into the Matrix, set up with a rich, important identity ("like an actor...") and brainwashed of all his real-World memories. Surely, creating a high-profile public persona for him would have been very complicated, requiring planting new memories in the minds of millions of people. So, once Cypher turned himself over to the machines, they'd probably have just made him an anonymous, destitute, amnesiac beggar.
hehe... my thoughts exactly. I agree with your potential solution. It's just that, overall, the impression I got was that the physical act of removing the 'brain spike', could not be done by the same person who was 'embedded'. I dunno, and it's never made clear in any case. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
In the scene directly proceding Cypher in the resturant with Agent Smith, neo spooks Cypher when he walks up to him sitting at that big bank of computers. As soon as he realizes that Neo is there he shuts off all the side monitors, kind of like hiding the porn you're looking at on your screen when someone else walks into the room. I sort of figured that the idea was Cypher was communicating with Smith in that way, maybe controling a sort of anamatronic cypher who was in the matrix. But agian that's kind of a long-shot, and really I think it's just a case of bending the rules of the continuity they'd set up just so that they could move the plot along.
Well its simple really. Notice when they sit in the dentists chairs, an operator alwayse straps in thier arms and legs. If Cypher had a way to return his conciousness to the real world (This is questionably likely... though maybe he left a phone ringing before he jacked in) all he would have to do is reach his un restrained arms around to the back of his neck... though I Imagine that putting the thing in yourself has to be akward... either way we can assume he was slumped in that chair in a rather funny position.
… Or how about this: it was a plot hole because the writers were stupid f^cks and knew they needed Cypher to become a traitor so the plot could end in their planed finally, so they said Cypher betrays them and did not think much more into how, when and where.
um, maybe he says he needs to go into the matrix to buy a bag of chips or maybe, to do some reconasaunce (who knows how to spell that) i mean, these people have to be seriously careful about what they do, getting everyone caught by an agent wouldnt be good, scouting would be necessary can anyone see a flaw in that?
Since when is it against Morpheus' rules to enter the matrix and have a little privacy while you are there?
given the danger they face in the matrix I imagine that recreatoinal trips are rare, and all trips are monotored by an opperator, so you can get out when you need to. Besides, for fun they have the construct program, where they can do such things as bang the lady in red.
Or maybe Dozer was in on it the whole time and when he realized shit hit the fan or got a guilty concious he decided to be a good guy again (or maybe not??? *Dun dun dun*). Notice his suddend absence from part II...huh huh...He was clearly alive and well at the end of Part I so why quit?...He loved Morpheus so why the sudden copout...??? I smell a spinoff.
In that case, the whole premise of the Matrix is flawed. Human metabolism is not particularly efficient at turning food into energy: the machines would expend more energy growing, feeding, cleaning and providing for the hardwired humans than they'd get back from us. It would be most efficient to just let us all die, and burn the fuel directly. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
The matrix is full of more holes and gaps than a tea strainer. The problem is the movie and the trilogy were made to make money and entertain, not to be watched over and over and taken as some work of art/philosophy.
Bahhh...lies..all lies. The brothers got so confused with the plot they don't know who died or lived anymore.
The problem is the movie and the trilogy were made to make money and entertain, not to be watched over and over and taken as some work of art/philosophy. number 1 is art, with a few problems, 2 was just lame and 3 was just ripped of the bible just because all visits to the matrix are meant to be monitered, doesnt meant cypher isnt gonna break the rules, he killed how many of the people, hes not gonna be afriad to sneak around after bed time
also, all you people aren't very smart if you cant work out how he got the spike out of his head when he was asleep, you dont need to know anything about the matrix tie some string to the spike, with an empty bucket on the end, have water or any liquid dripping into the bucket from above, tried with string to the ceiling, when the water is heavy enough, it'll pull the spike out Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
