If I write the following (and must I write it myself?) is this all possibilities?

1 <=A <=10
1 <=B <=10
1 <=C <=10
1 <=D <=10
1 <=E <=10

A+B×C-D÷E
A+B×C÷D-E
A+B-C×D÷E
A+B-C÷D×E
A+B÷C-D×E
A+B÷C×D-E

...and every other possibility?

I know I have posted similarly before but if you have not written the above (including the next eighteen combinations) would you not understand what I am trying to convey? If every possibility has been attempted, and not one is correct, will not the theory of artificial intelligence remain forever?

CAN YOU PLEASE WRITE THE ABOVE COMBINATIONS YOURSELF BEFORE POSTING, ELSE WOULD YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

Are there any more numerical symbols than 0-9?

If a column leftward is added when nine is reached, can the symbols not be re-used?

Counter.

... what?

Have you written the combinations, as requested?

No

Mother told me many things but she did NOT tell me not to write out strange equations I do not understand

I worked that out for myself

I haven't, because I'm not entirely sure what the pattern you are proposing even is... it looks like you are suggesting random permutations of ABCDE mixed with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division...?

But if you haven't done it yourself, how would you know?

Done what, exactly? That's what I'm trying to determine - what is it you are asking us to do?

1 <=A <=10
1 <=B <=10
1 <=C <=10
1 <=D <=10
1 <=E <=10

A+B×C-D÷E
A+B×C÷D-E
A+B-C×D÷E
A+B-C÷D×E
A+B÷C-D×E
A+B÷C×D-E

If you are referring to possible permutations using these symbols, then:

9! characters/symbols results in 9*8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1 = 362,880 possible combinations.

I really don't feel like writing out more than three hundred and sixty two thousand rows of 9 character combinations.

There aren't that many combinations. Besides, there are ten digits. Zero being the first and nine being the tenth.

9-10
8-9
7-8
6-7
5-6
4-5
3-4
2-3
1-2
0-1

You could try 10×1×10×2×10×3×10×10=?

What does that equal?

Wait, so you want the number of permutations of the digits 0-9 and the symbols for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division then, but not requiring to use all of them?

And it appears I was mistakenly mixing combinations and permutations - if order IS important, then it would be 14^14th I believe (my apologies, it has been quite a while since I've done this kind of math so... yeah, I'm fairly rusty)

Why 14^14?

In estimation I believe it would be 10^4?

Damn

Can I ever live the rest of my life

never knowing what I never knew before

which I never knew I never knew

just because I didn't write out some numbers

which I don't know the meaning of?

Guess I will just have to live the rest of my life to just find out if I can (without knowing what I never knew I never knew)

Who thought life could be so complicated when you don't know EVERYTHING including not knowing what you don't know?

At least I know I don't know what I don't know

Umm just read the above and concluded it must be my coffee moment

If you have 14 total items, and can pull them in any order, then there are, unless I'm mistaken, 14 to the 14th unique sequences they can be pulled in.

Yes but what are the fourteen? 10^4 is ten by the four main operators...

The fourteen being zero thru nine and then the four operators you listed?

20. ### TheFroggerRegistered Senior Member

...that is ten plus four. Not 10^4. What is 10^4?

...or actually...

10×1×10×2×10×3×10×4...

Please do not worry if you should consume everything, within is the knowledge (and many ways) to achieve zero (or nothing.) However I must warn you it is sacrilege to attempt to quantify, qualify or name such an "entity." For example how many zero's are in one (division by zero.) The result is much more rewarding though. I'm sorry. That was wrong. But I love you so no harm, no foul. ☺

Every answer will be correct. Should you include an equals sign (5) then it may be possible to be wrong.

I think we are having an error in communication...
