well science does progess and theories do change!
old ones are termed incorrect when new ones take their place...
but some always remain the way they are...
for example the earth was considered as the center of the universe...
but now we know its isnt... even the sun isnt... and this one's gonna remain the same as it is...
similar is the case with sky and earth....
the sky will never be down and earth will never take sky's place!
some theories stay intact because they are what we call as "the absolute TRUTH"

  5. actually lets not forget that if it had not been for catholic supression of scientific eveidence and the scientists themselves, the view that the world was flat would have probably been proven wrong long before it actually was. but we all know how dangerous it could be to put forth a competing viewpoint back in those days when you knew you'd have the inquisition breathing down your neck for trying to move humanity forward. remember, the catholic god hates it when people discover things about their world, just look at stem cell research and how the church views that if you need more relevant evidence.

Actually we don't know if it is or isn't. What we may say is that the earth is at the "centre" of the observable universe - what we see is "equally distributed" all around us. Who is to say the Earth isn't at the centre?

at the center implies everything moving around it...
just like all the electrons move around the nucleus!
or maybe a hot lady who's the center of attraction wherever she goes!

it depends on how you see it. the center can be thought of as being everywhere.

in the future there will be no up or down or sky or earth.

nah. if there was an objective reality everyone would believe same things. there would be no "fantasy".

center - A point equidistant from the ends.
so you can't call any other point or area for that matter as the center!

    are you Nostradamus?

then why do we all see angelina jolie as the way she is "hot"
you could see her as Halle Berry... do you?

It is quite evident isn't it? Instead of trying to dismiss the arguments he/she [Q] just states "Oh it's a load of claptrap" or some paraphrase. It is an emotional response as you have indicated. On observing many of his/her posts I have come to expect nothing better. Have a good one.

"God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference nowhere"

most girls don't and all males don't either.

Instead of trying to dismiss the arguments he/she [Q] just states "Oh it's a load of claptrap" or some paraphrase.

Perhaps then, could you please explain, without refering to your own imaginitive concepts, how one is to rationally argue someone elses' delusions?

It is an emotional response as you have indicated. On observing many of his/her posts I have come to expect nothing better.

That would be understandable considering that rationality and reason are foreign to you, hence you attribute them to emotions.

Who is to say the Earth isn't at the centre?

    Those who understand such concepts.
