Lawn mower question for any with knowledge. My lawn mower "surges" (rpm goes up and down). I understand this is probably a clogged carb jet of some sort (from watch YouTube videos).

When the mower is about 30 seconds from running out of gas suddenly is runs fast with no surging for those last 30 seconds. Why is that happening? If a carb jet is clogged what is different just before the gas runs out?

Many many years ago I was given a non working (more like badly running) lawnmower

Took apart - put back together few times - found some sort of speed governer inside
Found out was a Centrifugal Governor and was sticking

If that sticks and then releases fuel input would vary

I forgot to put the spring back when I put the mower back to together for what was to be a final mow

Boy did it run fast - 10 minutes before it destroyed itself

But it might be a sticking Centrifugal Governor

    Good luck

Is the gas tank full of fresh gas.???
Carbarator could be set to rich... when the tank is about empty an the engine is runnin on fumes (its runnin more lean) an the engine runs better.!!!
