There is a difference between reality and storytelling. In reality they would have killed Solo, Luke, and Leia.

But because it's a movie, they couldn't die.

What? The 501st was still kicking butt, even in the years of the Empire.

But very powerful.

And doesn't this all depend on what we're up against?

If they're fighting an AT-AT with an Abrams, AT-AT wins.

They do their job though.

Just that there are a lot of another things that can do it better.

Umm...joints for one.....reactors.....support structures....

Assuming you mean Grand Army of the Republic, the 501st was the best legion of the GAR. So good that they became Vader's Fist(Vader's personal legion).

The joints didn't show a weakness. Reactor had to be reached by cutting through the hull.

Umm....no unless you count by legion, I haven't heard of another unit in the GAR that is a legion beside the 501st.

82nd, 86th(whole Legion KIA on Felucia), ones like that? There were numerous legions, they just weren't named in the movies. And if the 501st were handpicked to be Vader's shock troopers, they must've been pretty dang skilled.

It's Star Wars vs Killzone, not SW vs SW.

Again, this all depends on what they're up against. A guy with an AK-47 couldn't take down an AT-AT.

They are battalions, bot legions. Not the only reason, they are one of the better units I admit, but not the best, one of the reasons that they are Vader's Fist is because they are born and trained on Coruscant.

For that to happen, there is a plot shield, thus causing stormtroopers to be awful onscreen. Always can blame the helmet

No, the 501st was the first unit created on Courscant.

That is their fail.

Never been proven they could, never they can't. However, the reason they use proton bombs and other bombs is probably because the torpedoes can't be used.

Unless ofcourse you play Star Wars Battlefront II.

They look like black visors, but if you read and played the Republic Commando series, you will know they are very sophisticated ( at least the Republic Commando's Kataran Armor are ).

They got it when they bought the GAR. They also started building coloning facilities using Spraati technology on one of the moons of Courscant near the end of the Clone Wars ( they mature in 2 years and are terrible ). The 501st is made with Kamino tech though.

I do actually. Also the Empire does have LAAT/i gunships. If you played Force Unleashed, you will know.

Not very smart, they should have had a worthy successor. Those gunships have awesome firepower and they are good medvacs and rapid deployment.

hey hey last time i checked no one in starwars had a tactical shot gun that could fire two shots at once, a machine gun with 50 rounds and a shotgun attachment, and/or a minigun with a rocket launcher attachment. and the helghan have better squad tactics and are more resourceful. plus they are bigger than the average troop

 

guess what! we've got AA guns with 4 15mm rapid fire barrels good for tearin up armor and troops! unload thousands of bullets in your ass in less than a sec!!!
