    Totally true. Patients very rarely sue doctors they like, no matter what the outcome. So being nice pays double dividends. It makes more patients come to you, and it makes them not want to sue you if something goes wrong. Considering this, it's amazing so many doctors are jerks!

    I'll put up with bad bedside manner in a surgeon (they're almost all jerks, I think they need to be to get thru their training) if I know he's good. After all, they're just their to solve one problem, then they move on. But for a GP or internist, I need someone I can talk to. That's part of their job.
