Hey me and my friend got in a fight (literally bloody noses and all) over who would win in a fight between Captain Janeway and Princess Leia. Who do you think will win?
I think janeway would win personally she would kick her butt so hard it's not even funny.

I don't know remembering Leia from Part IIII: Starwars and how she gets a gun and shoots a hole in the waste shoot grill, might give an idea of here temperament. (Bit of a bossy women if you ask me)

I only mentioned that though because of the amount of Star Trek postings.

Of course since all of these characters and worlds are completely fictional, is there actually any point in drawing blood?

Leia, most certainly. Janeway would hesitate while pondering whether she, as a cultured 24th century woman and Starfleet captain, should descend to the level of savage when a diplomatic solution could be even more satisfying for all parties involved.

Incidentally, I think it was Leia that gave me a preference for strong-minded women. In fact, Leia set the precedent for all the traits I find desirable in women.

Janeway beats Seven in some holo-game. So I think she is more fitting for a fist fight.

See I think Janeway would win but you have to take into consideration all things such as place, and what weapons can be used. Well if they were on Janeways ship just the two of them no one else and they were going to fight to the death then Janeway would blow up her ship (shes done it many times before) and Leia would die. But if they were in leia's secret underground lair then janeway would lose because leia would know her way around. Now if you had different weapons involved such as Phaser vs. What ever the hell she uses, then Janeway would win completely because janeway has got wayyyy better aim then her.

    LOL!

There is absolutely no question about that Janeway would so totally kick Leias butt.

I think Leia would win, cos she probaply have had a lot more fighting to do than Captain Janeway... the Starwars universe is much colder anyway... life isn´t worth much in there... so I think Leia has more experience and she does have the Jedi blood... so if she could only harness the force, she would win.

Altough I think that Janeway would put up a good fight, she isn´t any pacifist even though Federation does teach a lot moral etc. Also Janeway couldn´t perhaps kill as easily as Leia... Janeway always tries to safe lives... even the lives of her enemies.

    Good morning Captain.

    Porfiry:

    Yep ! ! !

No reflection onto the actress Kate, her character "Janeway" was some sort of a twisted inner desire of Startrek homo writers, who have probably now undergone the sex change operation that they longed for ! !! !! ! !

Speaking of crappy, has anyone yet come to realize that the present Startrek "Enterprise" series will most likely be the last???

Not because it has to be the end, but because it SUCKS!!!!!!!!! I am so serious! It is so stupid, but what makes it intolerable is that Jackass Backula ! ! ! ! What an idiot! ! ! !

The other night, I caught an old scifi movie that had Kurt Russell in it. It was not "Stargate". It was sometging like future soldiers??? I had never seen this movie but I thought that the Captain of the Enterprise ought to be stronger in role, like the way that Kurt did in that futuristic soldier movie. At least when Kurt Russell tells a Vulcan that he is going to knock her on her ASS, it's believeable. Personally, I almost fell out my chair laughing when Scotty Backula said it ! ! !

    WHAT A PUSSHEAD ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

WHAT THE HELL WERE THOSE MORONS AT PARAMOUNT THINKING WHEN THEY CAST BACKULA????????????????????

    Good God!

    On the other hand..

Considering that Leia has access to "the force" , which I forgot to include in my calculations, then I think she actually would win. I mean, of course Janeway could also access "the force", but since she hasn´t shown to be any believer of such "supernatural" phenomena, then it would not work. The belief is everything.

Scott Backula. He is an actor, who was formally known as Dr. Sam Beckett----- of the NBC television series---"Quantum Leap".

"Sam Beckett stepped into the quantum leap accelerator & vanished ! ! ! He woke up to find himself in another body--leaping from life to life with his pal "AL"////// & generally being a freak...

Well anyhow, Scott is now the new captain of the newest Startrek series "Enterprise". And it sucks ! ! !

The fourth episode airs tomorrow night (October 20, 2001) on UPN (United Paramount Network(television network)).

    ):

    STARTREK "ENTERPRISE" RECEIVES THUMBS DOWN.

Lot's of swearing and sexual overtones from the newest Startrek series. Vulcans witholding knowledge and treating humans like inmates in an asylum. Klingons traveling around the galaxy and being far more advanced than StarFleet. Phasers being used before the Romulans even being engaged in a first battle using nuclear torpedos (original series). Transporters, when there shouldn't be, and a ship that looks as though it would fly circles around Piccard's Enterprise! This is only a partial list of the aweful and unforgiveable mistakes on the newest series.

    The horrible Vulcans.
In the opening scene, a young SCOTT BACKULA and his father are lamenting the horrible way that they are being treated by the Vuclans. This along with the Vulcans being cast now as prison guards of the captive human race, is completely unforgiveable. One must wonder why the Vulcans would have ever initiated "First Contact" with Dr. Cochran if the human race wasn't ready to begin space exploration! Using this application of thought, the Vulcans should have come to the logical conclusion that they should have killed Cochran and destroyed his warp drive work in order to keep humanity safely at home until they matured! It doesn't seem very likely that humanity would willingly stay within the confines of their solar system for a century, with warp drive capabilities. It seems even less likely that they could be held back by the Vulcans. Obviously the Vulcans will eventually be shown as looking out for the human race, as there are so many dangers out there, but none of this fits the original Roddenbury design! If the non-interference directive is a Vulcan idea, as now it seems to be, then the Vulcans are breaking this rule by interfering with humanity! To use a phrase, "this is not logical."

    First Klingon encounter.
In Startrek TNG, a reference to the non-interference directive is made by Capt. Piccard in which he tells of a nearly disasterous consequence that came about from Starfleet sharing technology with the Klingons. From this, it is strongly implied (by Piccard), that the Klingons began their reign of terror on their neighbors after early human explorers gave technology to the Klingons. Though I am not a big fan of TNG, this would make more sense. Are we expected to believe that the Klingons began building warp capable ships on their own? Are we expected to believe that the Klingons would be running around in Broken Bow, Oklahoma (USA), without waging total war on the people of Earth? Logically, if the Vulcans knew that the Klingons would be on Earth, then they would have not shielded Starfleet from the knowledge of the warrior Klingons! To do so would only put Earth in more peril if the Klingons were more technologically advanced.

    Phasers/Romulans and more writing mistakes
Startrek writers continue to show their ignorance and inabilty to chronicle the Startrek history. A "prime" example has to do with the Romulans. Historically, Spock makes a reference about a war between Starfleet and the Romulans. This war occurred about a century before the time of Kirk and Spock. In this history lesson (by Spock), the war was waged using primitive nuclear weapons from large distances. In fact, when the treaty between Starfleet and Romulan Empire was agreed upon, the two races had never even seen each other! The entire treaty was constructed via subspace radio! This treaty established the well known "Neutral Zone" between Federation and Romulan space. In the first televised encounter, Kirk meets up with a Romulan warbird for the first time. In this episode, Lt.Stiles recounts how his grandfather fought against the Romulans one hundred years earlier and that his grandfather had told him about how the Romulans had the bird pictures brightly painted on their warships. Stiles also has a attitude toward Spock, after the first visual image of a Romulan is intercepted (Romulans being an off shoot of the Vulcan race). Since the newest "Enterprise" series is within this time period, then obviously there should be no phasers. In fact, the Federation should be getting into a nuclear brawl with the Romulans in the first season! Maybe the Federation meets up with the Klingons before they get into a war with the Romulans (unlikely, but possible), but I would like to see brawl between the Federation and the Romulans, as laid out in the original Startrek series!

    The ship-- What's in name?
Firstly, the ship should not have been called Enterprise. Ships named "Enterprise" are never the first to be built. They come along after the first Pioneering ships. They are built after the design has been out there a while. Enterprise is name given to the "workhorse" ship, never the first. Appropriately, the first warp drive ship should have been called "Explorer," in respect to Dr. James Van Allen, of the first US satellite in orbit, Explorer I. Further, it is conceiveable that our "real" scientific community might well name such a warp capable ship "Explorer."

The ships design-- James T. Kirk should be so lucky!
I realize that the archaic 1960's technology and under budgeted special effects made the original series look a little poor in comparison to the following motion pictures and sequel series of 1987 forward. But I think that the first ship of other world exploration could have been toned down to fit a little more closely to the original series. "Enterprise I" should have not been saucer designed. It should not have had transporters, nor should it have had even half the warp drive capabilities of Kirk's Enterprise (NCC 1701)!

    Transporters--- unlikely and uncessary
Perhaps as the series went forward, some new technologies could have been acquired, such as transporter technology. In fact a really neat episode could have been written in regards to how transporter technology was acquired from an alien race. Also, it occurs to me that the Vulcans, in the movie, "First Contact," did not teleport down to the Earth's surface after Dr. Cochran made his historic first warp drive jump! Perhaps the Vulcans came up with teleportation technology after this, but there again, the Vulcans are now casted as being reluctant to share new technology with the fledgling Federation.

    Phasers?
Again, this would be a good episode to show how the federation acquired phaser technology. Perhaps an episode where another Federation ship is destroyed by an alien phased particle weapon. This would mark the end of the use of nuclear type missle/torpedos, which had previoiusly been used by the Federation as well as the Romulan Empire, as recounted by Spock and Lt. Stiles in the original series of the 1960's.

    Thumbs down to the writers
It seems as though the current generation writers of Startrek have abandoned the earlier series, thinking that they know better. I think that they have made a huge mistake. I also think that casting Scott Backula was a mistake. A weak character at best, Backula simply does not instill any leadership qualities with phrases such as, "I'd knock you on your Vulcan ass!" Do the creators and writers somehow think that we will see Captain Backula as a strong character by quoting Kirk (Startrek V, where no man has gone before)? I am also wondering if parents should now prevent their children from watching Startrek Enterprise after the shower scene of the Vulcan female and the human male. What was this scene supposed to do for the younger audience? Was it really necessary? Hey, she's gorgeous and all, but there are better sources of porn, if that's what you want! This is not something that the younger viewing audience needs to be exposed to. I wouldn't be surprised if parents were to forbid their children from watching "Enterprise." If the upcoming episodes are anything like the introduction episode, then kids won't be missing anything!

Honestly, the newest Startrek series is pretty bad! One can only hope that the writers will try something original-- such as killing off Scott Backula's character and replacing him with someone else! Otherwise, this series may well end after it's first season.

  14. Some good points

The series is set in the near future, right? Military men, fleets, has anyone ever heard sailors? What do they talk & think about? HMMMMMMMM???????? Actually, it might have missed out on the reality part, like 'NYPD Blue', that shows the sexual part of life? I know some earthlings wouldn't complain if T'Pol did a real shower scene, why would a Vulcan care about her body image? Only humans would. The ratings might have gone through the roof? But then, would it be 'Star Trek' or 'Soft Trek"?

Actually, if I had met Zefron Cochrane, I would have said, "Beam me up Scotty! There's no intelligent life here!". I thought it was the MOST HILARIOUS sight ever, to see those dignified, cultured, advanced Vulcans, meeting Zefron & his rag-tag earthlings. And having to endure loud Rock & Roll, bad whiskey & bad company? TOO MUCH!!!

Seem to remember they used Romulan technology.

Maybe, some of the writers needed to be 'Trekkers', so at least they would get the continuity right, I thought they had someone hired to do that for them on most projects? Also, there is too much room, it should be more cramped, cluttered & maybe noisy?

Shucks, no ones perfect! But it would help, if the show remembered its history, doesn't have to be exact, but close, you wont lose the non-Trekkers if you have a good story too!

Ive watched all the startrek shows one after another from TOS to TNG to DS9 and Voyager. And me being me ive never found a problem with any of them. Do you know why? There just tv shows they dont have to make sense because if tv shows had to make sense then startrek wouldnt even be on air right now! I like the new series ive enjoyed every episode so far and think its great! So what they cuss, who doesnt? They wear baseball caps and jumpsuits, they do that on subamrines. The ship is more cramped then it looks notice how small the "situation room" is compared to the one used on voyager. Look at how big the captains ready room is its very small. They dont even have a shuttle bay that you can really walk around in because the shuttle takes up most of there space, they have to walk on catwalks over top of it! Not all of there food is replicated, they have only used there transpoter twice so far, and the second time they used it it screwed up big time! So they dont use transpoters, they have a small ship from what ive seen, that one girl on board doesnt like to go to engineering because she thinks that theres radiation there.
People dont like the vulcans because they witheld information, to me this is all Gene R. right there, didnt you watch earth final conflict? Besides if the vulcans kept you out of space and not exploring like how you want to wouldnt you be mad?
The ship is weird looking. The thing about the ship though is that you can see where its been bolted together, and it looks old to not all one color like voyager or DS9.
The storys so far are pretty good at least i think they are, im not sitting there with a startrek dictionary and every time they mention something i look it up to see if there right or wrong, ITS JUST A SHOW!!! Its ment to be enjoyed man so enjoy it or dont watch it, because people who complain about the show being terrible shouldnt be watching it in the first place.

I hear what you are saying man & I might agree if the "Enterprise" was a Military or Merchant Ship, whether an ocean going vessel or a space vessel. But it has been...---- and continues to be the original design of Gene, that Earth exploration vessels are loaded with scientists and engineers, not Green Beret guys or drunken, profane sailors!

Actually Randolfo....... I felt that the character of "Zefren" was cast pretty accurately. In my opinion, it was the best motion picture made by "The Next Generation (Startrek, First Contact)."

From what I gathered from the movie and TOS (the original series (Kirk and Spock)), Zefren Cochan was a bit of a roque, as well as a "semi-crackpot." Zefren was a little like "Doc Brown," of the motion picture series, "Back To The Future."

The guy who comes up with a Warp Drive Engine, while others from Earth have failed, has got to be "a little WARPED."
The premise of a "RaG TaG" group of Earthings comes from the writers' expectation of a risidule group of scientists, that are still alive after World War III. Zefren was written as someone who had enough sense to go into the hills and avoid being destroyed during the war. Zefren was a survivalist in the strictest sense, that is. In a post Third World War scenario, there would obviously be a huge number of scientists killed in the main cities, throughout the world. Gene Roddenbury wrote in the "Zefren Cochran" character to be a little like some of the mentalities that are actually present here, at Sciforums,

    --- a little warped.

I can easily imagine this first meeting between the truth-seeking Vulcans, after they detected a warp signature and decided to investigate thee source--Earther-terran. The humor of the Vulcans being exposed to ZEFF & the Rock & Roll music is entirely predictable, as well as refreshing to realize that the best scientists are really pretty damn wild, and unbound in their thoughts and imaginations.

    UNBOUND
Unbind the mind. Release the restrtictions of thy life, else be constricted to death by the expectations of those who cannot see the noose that is wrapped around your neck, as well as theirs............

Yes Randolfo, the Romulans did----------adopt and adapt to Klingon technology. Good point, sir.

The Romulans began using the SHIP design of the klingons after the initial contact and subsequent destruction of the Romulan Praetor's finest FlagShip, at the hands of Federation Starship Capt. James Tiberious Kirk. This occurred after Kirk destroyed this ship and it's Romulan crew for attacking Federation outposts.

With the new Romulan Cloaking device of the time period, as well as the new matter disrupter that the Romulans were using, the Praetor had sent his best Commander & Flagship out, & into Federation space-- to challenge and find weaknesses that might be present in the Federation. Any weaknesses found would be exploited by the Romulans. A prelude to Romulan expansion & the invasion of Federation territory.

Unfortunately for the Romulan Commander, there was one of those pain in the ass, under-acheiver neanderthal humans (who you can never predict) commanding StarFleet's workhorse ship. James T. Kirk.

Kirk is a written character based initially on Horatio Hornblower. I assume that everyone here has already read Hornblower, but if you haven't then do so. Great writing, Randolfo.

William Shatner did a hell of a job! I am often aggravated by the critics who make a big deal about the over-dramatic acting of Bill. But we have to remember and acknowledge that the original cast and crew made the Whole Startrek phenomena a reality today ! ! ! I could only wish that the "ENTERPRISE" Captain today would dramatize and get into the role a little more. So far, I have only seen a drugged out Scotty backula prancing about a stage set and making smart assed remarks ! ! !

Good God, the writers could have fitted Shatner back into the series (as Captain) and made the Startrek series more acceptable than it is at present.

    SULU WAS A PROSPECT.
George Takai (Sulu) was supported by many Trekker fans as the Captain of the next series.................................. Too bad it didn't happen. I really think a lot of George & saw a hell of a lot of potential during his abbreviated role as Captain of the Excelsior, in the movie, "Startrek VI, The Undiscovered Country."

I believe that Captain Sulu would have propagated the Startrek series, not destroy it as Backula and Brandon Braga are now doing........

Ships of exploration..............scientists, not drunken sailors.....best possibilities to promote a hopeful future.......

My apologies if I have inadvertantly insulted anyone here. I am a bg Startrek fan. it is not my intention to conquer this post or the forum. Actually I would like to read much more from the other Trekker fans that are lurking the board ! ! ! ! ! !

    The Universe according to Kirk.

To my knowledge, Randolfo, the Romulans acquired the design of Klingon ships in an alliance. I am basing my statements on the television series. During the second encounter of the Enterprise's crew with the Romulans, in the episode, "The Enterprise Incident", Kirk is initially portrayed as an overstressed, overworked Captain, who is borderline psychotic.

In this episode, Kirk commands the Enterprise directly into the Neutral Zone, while ignoring the questions of his bridge officers. Upon the entrance into the neutral Zone, the Enterprise is met by three Romulan Warbirds. Surrounded and overwhelmed, the Enterprise has no choice but to maintain it's position.

Upon Romulan Hail (ship to ship greeting), the Romulan Sub Commander immediately informed Capt. James T. Kirk:

    1) that the Enterprise was in forbidden territory;

    2) that he believed that the Enterprise was on a spy mission, and

    3) that the Enterprise must surrender, or be destroyed.

After the tense introduction and Kirk's following conference with his bridge officers in the captain's ready room, Kirk decided to transport to the Romulan Flagship with Commander Spock.

Upon re-materialization, on the Romulan Flagship, Kirk and Spock were escorted to the Romulan Commanders quarters. He (Kirk) was met by the female Romulan Commander. She accused Kirk of :

    1) Violating the Federation/Romulan Neutral Zone treaty;

    2) entering Romulan space (beyond the neutral zone);

    3) creating an incident for the obvious purpose of a spy mission, and

    4) provoking a new Romulan/Federation war.

    Kirk replied:

    1) that the Enterprise had accidently entered the Neutral Zone;

    2) that the ship's navigation instruments had failed;

    3) that the ship had been long overdue for a system wide overhaul many months earlier, and

    4) that mistakes happen.

Unimpressed by this explanation, the Romulan Commander had an exchange with Kirk and finally called in Commander Spock.

Spock communicated to the Romulan commander, that Kirk was acting alone............. Geez, this could go on forever ! ! !

Anyhow Randolfo, this is the episode (The Enterprise Incident) that first introduced the viewing audience to a Romulan ship that had been designed from a Klingon Battle Cruiser. In the story plot (television series), I am presuming that the Romulans needed to upgrade the slower Warbirds (impulse powered), after Kirk blew them away in the first encounter. This was accomplished by the treaty with the klingons.

Actually, as I have heard about it, the original series special effects Dept. didn't have the money to create a Romulan ship model for "The Enterprise Incident" episode. So they went back and and decided to write in the part about the Romulans using Klingon Ship design.

    ANYHOW.........

Makes sense, I heard that almost everything was low budget. Amazing that they were able to do such a good job(in my opinion); inventing stuff (swirling glitter in a glass of water), storylines & mythic histories.

Yep! 1960's special effects and low budgets. But I have always enjoyed the dialogue of the stories. If you have read the Startrek books, then you know what I mean. The reading of Startrek has always been better than any of the televised series, or motion pictures. The same is true in regards to the other Scifi stories, such as Star Wars.
