You cannot keep sending me warnings it's making my inbox full look at my infraction and warning history, It be` longer than my post history.

The word "Kaffir" is not a derogatory term it means "Diss-believer" stop telling me what words I can and cannot use and sending me personal ban threats.

You are a Kaffir too James and you have admitted you are a "non believer" Iam allowed to call you and Geoff (Who the infraction/warning was about just now) a Kaffir you have both admitted to being Kaffir.

    "Dear EmptyForceOfChi,

You have received a warning at SciForums.com.

    Insulted Other Member(s)

Aren't you just back from a ban?

Please realise that your next ban will be longer than the previous one. The cycle is this:

    3 days -> 7 days -> 2 weeks -> 1 month -> permanent.

You're heading down a track here. Time to rethink, maybe?"

Wordsof Geoff quoted by james R in my warning-----v

"Do not use that word again on the forums, or I will file a report. "Kaffir", "filthy unbelievers" and the like are insults. You cannot expect me to believe you are actually stupid enough not to know this. So: enough. You're using English now, so whatever the assertions I'm expected to believe about the inflexibility of Arabic, you have no excuse for using it.

Finally, you may ignore my comments, but i) you do so at your peril and ii) you leave the field open for my uncontested counter-commenting, which is fine with me, as I will almost certainly make you look quite foolish, if you deserve to be so interpreted".

Don't tell me what words I can and cannot use you are both Kaffir and have admitted to being Atheists.

    Put it in a PM.

In regards to insults - maybe you ought to consider less how you mean it than how it is received. You also might consider the common understanding of the term, especially in the context in which you use it, even if the term itself may not be an insult in all circumstances.

Also, as far as I know, GeoffP is not an atheist, and even if he was that doesn't give you the right to insult him.

Be thankful you got a polite warning this time. I really don't want to have to ban you again, but I will if I keep receiving complaints about you.

No I can make a thread about what I like don't tell me what to do your just a human and an insolent one at that.

You listen up James and you listen good, The word Kaffir is not an insult comming from me. You are not any authority on the definitions of Arabic and Aramiac words you have not even studied the subject where as I am currently learning both languages and know what the meaning is in full understanding.

You have a personal grudge against me and you pretend like you're being nice about it when really you look for any little slip up on my behalf, You let people insult theists and call them retards and assholes and idiots yet you do nothing about it. But when I call somebody "unclean" or a "diss-believer" I get infractions.

    You are an annoying person

Also James It is not up to me to decide how somebody wants to "take" a word. If somebody doesn't like being a non believer it's not my fault is it. So If I didn't like being called a "Theist" (Which I dont) should I report somebody like a little snitch and say "Excuse me mr moderator he hurt my feelings can you slap his wrist for me".

You make me laugh all of you kaffir, like little babies crying over word definitions that hurt your little touchy feelings. How do you think "Theists" feel when you call them stupid and insult god?.

You are the kind of people who dont want freedom of speech, you would like everyone to shut up and not speak their mind's. well that;s not happening ok not with my Generation.

kafir is an insult as much as atheist or homosexual or jew or austrailian is one.
it points out, it describes an attribute which one admits to ascribe to him.
while chi doesn't seem to careful on trying to avoid a ban by following rules, he's definitely not in the wrong this time.
people complaining about things not worth complaining don't warrant a warning.
if i call you "Australian" every time i address you, you can't ban me for it because you decided to find it insulting.
i am proud to be kafir with regard to other religions. by proclaiming to be an athiest, you're proclaiming to be kafir, and when we say kafir, we don't sneer if that's what you people have in mind,it merely describes your position to islam.
HOWEVER, insulting the prophet of two billion people and the most reverend person in the fastest spreading religion in the world, or its god, or its holy book, is permittable on these forums under your consent. why? because in you opinion they aren't worthy of respect, and it isn't your business if some people holify something that isn't holy, and take offence in its insult.
isn't the hypocrisy glaring you in the eye??
and he was allowed to do it again, to push it deeper, have his joy with the goading, in the safety of the tyrant majority, being sure the insult isn't forgotten easily, which is wasn't.

you should apologize to chi james, and take back the infractions, and warn G that's he's abusing the report button.
if he goes back to preaching, i wouldn't say no to permabanning him.
but here and now, that's the only right thing to do.

    it's up to the majority.
which majority? that's up to forum standards.
if the forum is a closet for atheists, then majority is those who see "disbeliever" an insult.
if the forum is a forum pertaining to human general culture, then badmouthing a prophet is considered an insult.

The Arabic word “kafir” derives from the triliteral Semitic root K-F-R that carries the literal sense of “cover” or “conceal”. However, “kafir” specifically extends these meanings to “deny” and “disbelieve” and, thus, from an Islamic perspective, “kafir” means “non-Muslim” — that is, someone who denies or disbelieves Islam.

Non-Arabic languages borrowed the Arabic word “kafir” and respelled it as “kaffir”. This word “kaffir”, with the geminated “f”, carries ambiguous and imprecise meanings and, for almost a century, some people have intended, received and/or viewed it as an ethnic slur.

Alternately, the word “non-Muslim” is a precise and easily understandable word that is not open to interpretation, and it cannot be misinterpreted as a slur.

    Just call him a heathen.

The irony of course is this:

The word kaffir, sometimes spelled kaffer or kafir, is an offensive term for a black person, most common in South Africa and other African countries. Generally considered a racial or ethnic slur in modern usage, it was previously a neutral term for black southern African people.

A white person being offended at being referred to as a racial slur that would normally apply to blacks....

But it seems he is more insulted at being referred to it because it means he is a heathen or unbeliever of the Islamic faith.

Since he is offended at being referred to as either a person of colour or offended at being referred to as a disbeliever of the Islamic faith, instead of saying "Kaffir", make sure you spell it out properly as in "disbeliever of the Islamic faith". Just to make sure he isn't insulted lest he thinks people think he's black or a heathen.

He has just eanred himself a Title, what an honour..

James R, Kaffir *The non believer"

He is like a historical tyrant now and will be added to the history books, everyone who has a fancy title like that is remembered in history. I shall add him to wikipedia ^^

  12. Bells Staff Member

    I meant for Geoff.

But seriously though, if people are offended by "Kaffir", just refer to Geoff and the all others on this forum as a "person who does not believe in Islam".. Which is essentially what Kaffir means anyway. Or say "non-Muslim" as advised by Cifo. Spell it out so that there is no room or reason for him to complain because he is so sensitive. Don't give him the opportunity. Deny him his fun!

Just try and avoid the term altogether on this forum Chi. Instead of saying Kaffir on sciforums, just say 'non-Muslim'... Trust me..

Well if you can use kaffir then I can use let me think. Religious nut? Wackjob? Woo woo?

You believe in a god that has never done anything for you. Do you actually think that your so special that some deity, a deity of infinite power and wisdom, would go out of it's way for a tiny little insect?

The typical mentality for those of the preachy persuasion can be outlined in the following tenets:

    1. God is #1
    2. God made me #2

I don't mind that there are idiots in this world, they clean our gutters and toilets in exchange for mere pennies.

Er, except that the term as used applies to non-Muslims, neither black nor white. Why is race being brought up? Only Bells can say for sure.

Aww, and you managed to slip a little accusation of racism! Good for you, Bells: stick to your standards, wherever they may lie. You didn't read the post of interest, or don't get that it was pretty clearly an insult...kind of like how it's used at the end of the first post here.

I swear I think you two do all of my work for me. Simple thought here: if it's used insultingly, it's probably an insult. Too tautological? Sowwy.

And to dear Chi, my Muhammadan friend: actually, I'm not an atheist. I'm something even worse in Bells' eyes: a Catholic.

Please don't be offended. I promise not to harm you; you won't even have to share a water source with me, lest I give you cooties.

And, as I review the rest of that link, it's hardest to pick out the most awesome part of even this short clip. Is it the robot ball of death? The snake? Is that Aishwarya Rai?
