pj, read U.N. 181, the U.N. did give the Arabs of Palestine the chance to choose their own political destiny, and they rejected U.N. 181 in favor of military adventurism, and tried to take all the land in a war of conquest.

how does giving foreign jews the chance to conquer palestine; the palestinians being allowed to choose their own political status. Sorry but being given scraps of your own land after the best parts are taken away through force isn't allowing people to choose their own political status.

Maybe not, but it did solve the Jewish refugee problem.

Were does U.N. 181 allow anyone to conquer anything?

No how about all the illegal immigration by the Arabs into the lands between the Jordan River and the shores of the Mediterranean from 1922 till 1947?

There was massive illegal immigration by Arabs into what was left of the British Mandate of Palestine.

Hey, I'm not anti-semitic, but that meme is false, it's based on spurious scholorship and has been debunked by Norman Finkelstein among others.

    WHAT?
did you really just say that?

It's like me entering New Zealand and kicking out all the christians that live in New Zealand and telling them that there's quite alot of christians that live in Australia and that they should just live there.

does that sound good to you?

It's not the same at all, those are islands. What we call Palestine has been variously part of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and the Ottoman empire. Also, not all Arabs were kicked out of present day Israel. You do have to wonder why the Arab world has not already solved the Palestinians refugee problem. I maintain it's because they don't want to.

The Arab states should wash their hands off the whole affair and return all the refugees to Gaza and the West Bank. Let Israel solve the problem. They seem to be better at it.

    Why? They haven't suffered enough?

Why would they suffer? Everyone knows Israel wants peace. See the plan they have been offering since 1967? Diane Mason has done a good job explaining it

I think, if it is left wholely and solely to the Israelis, we'll see a faster resolution. They are quite clear about what they want.

Let them negotiate directly with the people they occupy, let the other states move back and let the two of them handle it.

Israelis have rejected all plans offered to them anyway, even the 1967 borders, forget about 1948

If the Arab Palestinians want to live in a police state, that's a good solution.

How will it be different from the way they live now? At least it will no longer be other peoples problem.

Then stop complaining about it, if you advocate washing your hands of the issue.

Its not their job to pay for Israel's crimes. Israel could have solved but wants to force the surrounding states to pay for its actions.

Yes, they should absorb their Muslim brothers. Or they can continue to let them suffer. Allah would be proud.

Making them pay and take care of the refugees Israel created is the same thing morally as charging a rape victim for their own rape kit. The surrounding states shouldn't have to pay shit simply because Israel feels its above the law. one of these days you and yours are going to have to understand that. What you want is irrelevant. what Israel wants is irrelevant. a framework exists for this kind of thing and the only people's wants who matter under that framework is that of the refugees them selves.
