    Is your son a hacker?

    Parents, it is your responsibility to read this bullshit.

    I can't even tell if it's serious or not...

    Well, it takes a LOT of reading....i found it kind of interesting in the recent past when dial-up was king etc....
    At that time, I used www.hackpalace.com, IRC, books on programming, anything. The old hack/phreak textfiles, however useless now, are a must read! It makes ones fantasize and drool over how simple and deliciously vulnerable old computers were...

    Hackers?

    i thought hackers crack programs and crackers break into computer systems?
    yeh, the key to hacking is to read everything, a knowledge of computers will come along with this knowledge. Programs that crackers/hackers use are mostly password crackers and key loggers.
    Its difficult to become a hacker and this guy obviously doesnt know what the hell he is talking about.
    Hackers/crackers are not to be confused with script kiddies.

    God, this is old. The original came from Ezboards.com in Dec 2001. Sadly it no longer exists which is pity as it was even funnier. The URL's they linked to gave the game away. Each reference to "god fearing American's" pointed to chick.com and so on.

    We could spend hours each night playing QIII Arena and Warcraft III. It would give me the excuse to buy every game and text book as it came out. I could (read am about to) install a LAN in the house then flood wire it for Ethernet.

    I could teach her all about the arcana of packet switching and non paged pools. The sekrit knowledge, rituals and incantations will be passed to a younger generation. The proper sacrifices required to ensure the smooth running of machines. The correct incenses and recreational chemicals, unwinding, for the use of, to use. All the sekrit code words and handshakes to identify yourself to other BOFH's.

    ::cough:: ::cough:: ::hsss:: ::ahhhhh::

    Hacking bad, hacking evil. Must deter the young ones from Unamerican ways. Must drink pure, clear water and protect her from the evil Internet preverts.
