It's no different here than it is in real life. Humans are naturally competitive and most will try to make you think they know more than they do. Now me, for example, I'm old enough now to see and admit that I know lots, LOTS, less than I "knew" when I was young. But it's not from forgetting anything, it's from realizing how little I actually know!

Then why talk about it at all? If there's nothing to be gained, why bother even thinking about it? And most assuredly, no one should argue about it.

Can you prove that? Can you prove that it's not just a dream that you're having? If you can, I'd love to see it.

If it isn't real, it's hardly physical

How can you prove that it's physical? I don't know how your dreams are, but lots of my dreams are as real and physical as what it's like right now sitting in this chair typing this message. (I even dreamed up that you posted that question!

I only have to prove that physical exists, which I probably can't by the way..

This world exists because you can touch it.

This world exists because you can touch it or you're aware this world exists because you can touch it?

I stand corrected. I am aware the world exists because I can touch it. That is not to say everything that exists can be touched, but rather everything that can be touched exists.

Does it matter? Would you live any different than you do now if the world wasn't real? Really a pointless question you are asking.

You have absolute certain knowledge you are not in an artificial simulation?
You have absolute certain knowledge your perceptions reflect reality totally & 100% correctly?
You have absolute certain knowledge you are not actually in a dank dark cell having a "long" dream of being free & happy?

All things are possible, to include impossibilty of all things.

Simulations still run in the real world.
Incorrect perceptions still happen in the real world.
Being in the dank, dark cell would still be being in the real world.

You are just trying to shift the question.

You can doubt yourself to your heart's content, but where you doubt is the real world. It is the foundational and inescapable context for your existence while you exist.

"Real" is a funny word. To me a breakdown of language lies within it. If everything I can touch is real, then it seems to follow that the things I cannot touch are not. Using this line of reason, "freedom" is not real. Thus the argument fails as there is a belief that concepts exist and are "real".

Perhaps, then, it is the ability to have a concept of something that makes it real. Down this road we have "cogito ergo sum". Then we should be able to say that all concepts are "real". I have a concept of a leprecauhen that lives in my pocket. The reaction to this statement is "that is not real". If it is my concept, then it is real to me, is it not?

It seems to me that "real" lies within the lair of the relativist. That which is or is not "real" to you may or may not be "real" to me. Thus existence becomes completely subjective as I cannot know I am truly experiencing what you experience.

"Real" and "exist" thus stand out as unprovable concepts, no matter what your declaration may be.
