Looks like that privatizing profits but socializing losses is the truly capitalist way to do business. Unfortunatelly, it doesn't seem to be working.

So maybe it is time to call this little experience called capitalism over....

lol too late to turn back, they claimed capitalism works like a charm. Yet look at China, it aint no capitalism and works like a blessing from middle Earth.

I hope not for capitalism is the only way to express individualism , inventiveness and progression of thought and thinking and rewards therefore rewarded

capitalism is the only true expression of individualism there is

sure greed is a problem in the capitalist society

    but hopefully they have learned

in the Canadian banking system , by regulations , they were not allowed to get into the sub-prime greed

so hopefully other banks and lending instituitions world wide have learned from the Canadian lending regulations

Capitalism is exactly what is bringing China out of the 18th century right now.

    sure

but at the same time , this doesn't mean we Humans can't be Humane about our approach to capitalism

actually I think that if capitalists are NOT Humane towards the rest of the world , within reason , it will be our down fall

that is why there needs to be rules and limits otherwise it is just greed. with communism you just have communism (majority of population) and greed (the elite), or so it seems to me.

as thinking said its no longer proffits proffits proffits. Even before the crash alot of companies in australia at least were starting to talk about the tripple botom line

    ie, profit, community and eviroment.

if capitalism does not spread the wealth more than it does , there will be a backlash

    bitter , bitter peoples

    hence communism

which is far from a better political system for the people as a whole

Thanks, finally somebody has come up with a good definition for capitalism. Capitalism works just fine for the capitalists.

Rigged market economies works just fine for those who are rigging the markets.

Free market economies are better than capitalism, not the same as capitalism. Moderately regulated market economies are even better than free market economies.

Highly regulated economics are too regulated and would start to choke the life out of an economy. Command economies are bad and crony capitalism is bad.

Hopefully governments will learn what the perfect regulations are to maintain a healthy economy but I don't expect to see that in my lifetime.

Crony capitalism will always try to corrupt government and will be somewhat successful at corrupting government. I don't expect that to end in my lifetime.

This experience we call capitalism is not finally over. The most that I can hope for is that we might draw a distinction between capitalist economics and free market economics.

    well put

but regulations are always based on the abuse , by people , on the system its self

its the abuse of the capitalist system , by the PEOPLE and/or CORPORATIONS that is the problem really

not capitalism as a system persay

I suppose that the corollary would be that "Socialism works just fine for the socialists"?

This could be said about any system, even communism. The truth is, when the system can be abused, the system is not working...

Now about China. They just had a good run, but still with lots of problems. As the worldwide crisis hit them, including higher oil prices they will go back and down.

So far Nirakar said the best.

I don't think people/governments will learn, they never do...Moderate regulation is the way to go...

    true

    it's about though maturity

but I understand what you mean

it's a shame though , the potential is lost

yeah but know the Chinese are no dummies they'll find a way though

    they understand their vulnerabilities

they'll come up with something , somehow

    perhaps

it is banking regulations that saved Canadian Banks

I just hope the World's Banks have learned from this sub-prime greed

    they probably have

its just how long will it take them to forget the lessons learned ?
