Is Sciforums a Waste of Time?

It's incredible the amount of people that spend so much time here just putting other people down. Like... don't people have anything better to do? I want just a simple intelligent mature conversation to go on, but all that people can do is to call you dumb, idiotic or anything like that.

For example, the Religion Forums are populated by atheists that just put religious people down just for the sake of... whatever. In the other hand, the religious folks don't respect the atheists either.

Even the Free Thoughts are populated by people that just post junk in threads, insulting other members and wasting other's times.

Common people! If you don't agree with someone, can you at least respect each other!?!? Don't you have anything better to do than making fun of people in a forums in the internet? Get a life! If you don't want to have a meaningful conversation, go away! Don't post junk that just takes pages of replies of stupid childish conversations such as "it is your falut - no it is your fault". Those conversations takes pages and pages and go nowhere because nobody is opened to the other person. Not to metion that it probably slows down the site.

Please, give me some hope for this world. Have a meaningful conversation! :bugeye:

Will you do us all a favour and stop asking such incredibly stupid questions? Obviously what you think is mature is way off base, because generally your discussions on this board are about girls not having sex with you.

I am a very sad individual, and insulting other people is the only thing I have to hold on to in life. Why do you want to take that away from me?

Lack of sex is certainly not my problem at all. In fact, I have no problem in a way. I mean... how can girls wanting to go out with me be a problem. In fact, I even prefer just being their friends right now. If they are not mature enough to have a meaningful relationship, it is their problem. But I'm certainly not up to have a meaningless relationship with immature girls. :bugeye:

No, seriously, people mostly don't like to be around those who are sad or those whom they pity. So if you want to be taken seriously when insulting others, quit being sad! :m:

 

Truth to tell, I got nothing better to do right now, I have a problem with sleep, so I stay up late (right now it is 23:11 in Germany) even if I have to go to school in the morning. My friends, on the contrary, do not stay up late on normal schooldays. If they perchance do it anyway, they watch TV because they are too lazy to move. So pleeeeaaase do not blame me for venting my frustration a bit. Boredom is the worst friend.

Well... immaturity is not really an insult. Everyone is immature at some point in their lives. All that it takes is just some learning, that's all.
As for "telling your mother that you might one day date a woman 10 years older", that is not the issue. The issue is wheter I should tell her that this is happening right NOW. You are probably not a parent, but parents are often concerned with their kid's decisions. It is not an easy job to be a parent. I think the key to answer my question is just how much my mother trust that I will make the right decision. Still, difference of age is certainly a common issue in relationships. And it might become an interesting discussion of that, if people don't use the thread just to insult me.

I said I like making fun of myself and people. Yes, I said "you", but English is a terrible language...

TruthSeeker: There are a lot of cocky motherfuckers, yes. But, that's just how it goes on this forum. I find it to be wasteful to argue with some who bitterly whines their point until they are blue in the face. It takes balls to present an argument and to do so with a lot of evidence but it takes more balls to listen to opposing arguments without getting personally offended, to troll, and take arguments so seriously. That just shows lack of character.

I believe there is a certain degree of sriousness that we should deal with things. For example, we have rules in society so that we can live through some guidelines and with some order. My seriousness ends in the point where everyone should respect one another. I don't mind making fun of myself and of things here. I don't mind making jokes. But seeing people insulting others or being insulted is simply unnaceptable.

I would agree that a certain degree of seriousness would not be so bad, but this is a free forum, so the people are free to post things they think funny.

What is a waste of my time is reading inane posts from TruthSeeker who seems to view this forum as group therapy. You pose a question and people give you advice. Then you spend the rest of the thread discussing each point ad nauseum. Do us all a favor, grow up, step away from the computer and quit thinking that every girl that rubs against you or is nice to you wants to bear your four children. For fuck's sake, just enjoy your youth and quit airing your baggage on this forum unless you crave abuse from the Sciforums family.

Most of the conversations I have with people IRL are a waste of time...compared to that Sciforums is great. So it isn't a waste of time for me. As for insulting others; I use to be into it and then through examples of other posters I came to realize just how childish and laughable it is.

Carrying out a war of words with top notch insults against a digital character is a cause for revaluation of certain characteristics, as well as airing personal buisness in great detail. Anonymity and repose should be practiced more on any forum.

 

I'm sorry, but In most societies immaturity is not a valued trait. I think you knew that just fine, and proceeded to call me immature anyway. Is that not judging? Who are you to decide how immature I am? This isn't fact, calling me immature was simply your opinion.

Isn't this terribly hypocritical of you? I try to explain why I insult people, and you throw it back in my face like an angry victim of adultery might throw a fine glass of champagne in their partner's face.

You also claim you want mature and intelligent discussion, but you just told me several posts earlier that you make threads just to MAKE FUN OF THE SCIFORUMS COMMUNITY. How do you explain yourself?
