    The pen is mightier than the sword

    What I take from that saying (which I agree with) is that a person is able to disseminate knowledge through writing

    For example someone with knowledge of how to make swords can write down all the details and others who follow the instructions can reproduce swords

    If you have a sword (but no knowledge about swords) you would have to investigate numerous skills and processes using the sword you have to be able to make another one

    The sword is mute

    The pen has a voice

    I literally am tapping this out with a pen not a sword

    It had a lot more meaning in its time - when war and duels were common and the written word was reserved for the privileged.
