I understand your curiosity with your thread "Questions for Athiests" and I am also curious to the answers theists would provide for those questions, altered a bit of course. 1. If there's no definite proof that god doesn't exist, or does exist, why accept the existance of god instead of having an open-mind in between? 2. Why do you deny all but your specific form of God? (ie If you are a muslim, why is the christian god incorrect, or if you are Wiccan, why is Allah incorrect.) 3. Why are there so many bad things in this perfect creation? 4. Why is true morality important, why arent you trying to die as quickly as possible to get to paradise? Hockeywings
If there's no definite proof that god doesn't exist, or does exist, why you reject outright the existance of god instead of having an openmind in between.? (if you are a strong atheist) That is a valid question. Personally i think forms are not permanent attributes of God as such but rather tools to comprehend & giving a clue on what the believers are really after. Hey, i remember you.! still are you stuck to your idea of perfection..??!! my bad. I don't get you. Morality is a function of so many factors. Self-integrity in sticking to and living by what you believe is what constitutes one's morality. Second part - If God personally comes and invites me to paradise then i would be sure of it. hmmm my first response, woo hoo lol. I will direct you to vitalone's thread titled "Questions for athiests" and I believe I am the first response there. forms? hmmmm, interesting lol, glad you remember me, I wasn't going after that, but it is a good point I believe, why make claims of perfection without making perfection. but you still didn't answer the question. All of these are basically void if you go to heaven for eternity. Why not go down to the hood and preach and get there sooner?
I will consider your suggestion. But still i m not sure whether i will end up in heaven or limbo. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Hmm...well the statements "God does exist" and "God doesn't exist" hasn't been proven true nor false. I guess being agnostic would make sense, but the chances of creation being random as biology says is very slim. Actually, I don't. I accept all because when you pray, you're just programming your subconscious (indirectly redirects to the samething). Well actually there is nothing good nor bad. These things are subjective, not objective. Perfection is also subjective. So something perfect to you may be imperfect to others. Well, it's against my religion to intentionally kill. True morality is important to preserve peace.
I understand that, when I considered myself neither christian or athiest, I had this in my mind also, but I weighed it with some immaterial thing just the same. That is to say I thought this immaterial thing to be just as likely or less likely than the probability of biology making us. But like I said I completely understand your stance and respect it. hmmm, just curious but what religion are you? And on a side note, I also respect this position. I would agree with things being relative, but in a relative sense, the word perfection has no meaning, hence moot, at least as I believe it to be Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! No offense but what would going down to the hood to preach and get shot have anything to do with preserving peace? No one is hurt by it, except you, and you end up in paradise, if that is what you believe.
Well I wouldn't put myself in any specific religion, but I would say it's a combination of eastern philosophies (Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism). I don't really understand how this is related to what I said. But, "going down to the hood to preach" wouldn't be true morality (trying to force your beliefs onto others) and wouldn't preserve peace. It depends though, if the guy was preaching simply to share his beliefs, and is truly doing this not for himself, then it could be considered true morality. And, it is my belief that you wouldn't end up in "paradise" (to achieve liberation (closest thing to paradise) you have to be completely unselfish).
