If They Are Secure In Their Sexuality?

I am curious why homosexuals need my approval. What does it matter how I think and feel on the subject? If I disapprove and feel it's unnatural and obscene, why would they care? Honestly, they could talk endless trash about heterosexuality and I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest. If you are certain about your sexuality, how can anyone possibly affect your self image with words?

It's my belief that, deep down, they know homosexuality is wrong, and that they feel the larger community must accept it in order for them to feel right about themselves. I speculate that even if society does become more accepting of their sexuality, they will still be abnormal in their own minds and emotions, wanting what they can never have--a normal relationship.

    Who says they do?

I don't believe anyone actually cares what you think or feel on the subject. Why do you believe that people do?

Again, who cares what you think again?

Or is this a statement about your feelings? In which case, again, who actually cares what you think?

    They don't.

So why are you going out of your way to talk trash about people's sexuality?

When those words follow systems which directly discriminate against others because of their sexuality, then it stops being mere words, and starts to affect people's lives directly.

    You do get that, right?

For example, a country's leader who comes out and says homosxuality is obscene and unnatural will raise a few eyebrows among heterosexuals and homosexuals for the bigotry of such comments. Things change when they then go on to enact laws which result in the imprisonment or killing of people who are homoexual.

Do you understand how it is not always mere words that is the issue?

If you require a visual prompt to get you to understand this, I am sure I can find images of ISIS pushing homosexuals off buildings or burning them alive while crucified to a cross or plank of wood because they think homosexuals and homosexuality is unnatural and obscene.

Those "words" often encourage violence against people. Much like the mere "words" of KKK resulted in the lynching of black people.

Once more, who actually cares what you believe?

Homosexuality is no more wrong or right than heterosexuality. Sexuality has no wrong or right. It just is.

Charming little bit of homophobia you have exhibited there.

And frankly, it flies directly in contradiction of this site's rules. Are you aware that hate speech and this level of bigotry is against this site's rules?

    Here, let me demonstrate:

    Hate speech and stereotyping
    6. Hate speech, defined as the vilification of groups of people based on their race, religion, country of origin, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation etc. is not tolerated on sciforums.

    7. Stereotyping a member based on his or her membership of a group (e.g. his or her race, religion, country of origin, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation) is unlikely to be conducive to civil discussion and will usually attract moderator attention. It is acceptable to point out similarities and differences among groups, but only as long as this is supported by argument or evidence.

    8. The use of vulgar or demeaning words to describe a group of people – particularly a group that includes a member whom you are addressing – is unacceptable.

    Enjoy your infraction.
