If there is intelligent life why can't we detect it?

My concern is for you, not the general populus.
Despite this, most cosmologists and scientists do accept that ETL should most certainly exist elsewhere, and ETI at a slightly rarer rate.
The sheer, probably infinite, extent of our Universe, and the sheer numbers of moons, planets, stars, galaxies that abound attest to this.
Contact between species is difficult due to the time factor, the limited universal speed limit and distances factors:
No Earth visitations and contact are evidenced.

My point being is this;

The evolution of our intellect can be compared to life forms and our ancient past. We have no comparitive life forms to compare our evolution of intellect to in the bigger picture of the Universe.

Hence intellect in the Universe can be a 100,000yrs ; a million yrs; or a billion yrs ahead of us. Or any yrs in between.

Advanced beings have been here. We just have to have the courage to accept this.

Tell you something little bang: I'm as certain as anyone could be that ETL exists at most stages throughout the universe. And I would seriously give my right arm to actually meet up with one should they ever make it to Earth.
But in reality, and not withstanding the conspiracies and such that abound, there is no convincing evidence of any Alien contact or visitation.
ps: I have also been a witness to a UFO.

Me too! I've seen a U.F.O. A ball of orage light fell from the sky and before it crashed into the ground it changed trajectory and colour and flew off faster than anything I've ever known. It could only have been a U.F.O!
