Help me out here guys and gals!

The total energy output i get in the first calculation is about 5 x the mass of what i get in the second calculation! Why?

They should be the same!

Solar Constant = 1370Wm-2 of solar Energy arrives at the top of Earth’s atmosphere.

Distance of Earth from the Sun = 1 AU = 149598000 km

Surface area of Sphere with Radius equal to 1 AU = 4 x pi x (149598000 x 10^3)^2 = 2.8123 x 1023 m^2

Total Energy output of the Sun = 2.8123 x 10^23 x 1370 = 3.8528 x 10^26 W = 3.8528 x 10^26 Js-1

This result is confirmed by sources.

Sun’s Total Output / Energy per PP-Chain reaction = No. of He Nuclei produced per second

3.8528 x 10^26J / 4.3776 x 10^-12J = 0.88011 x 10^38 = A

4A = 3.520 x 10^38 hydrogen nuclei used per second

Ar of He-4 Nucleus = 6.6950 kg

Mass of He Nuclei produced a second = 6.6950 x 0.88011 x 10^38 = 5.892 x 10^11 kg = B

Mass of H Nuclei used = 3.520 x 1038 x 1.6762 = 5.900 x 10^11 kg = C

C – B = Mass of the sun lost per second = 8 x 10^8 kg
