That's great that you asked him; thank you for that!

I wonder what he would say about the videos/still shots that magical posted in this thread.

Here's a good one. A trip into the Indian Rain Forest.
Three days after the photo was taken, the boy died.

Actually, you can see the "cut" outline round the boy's body quite clearly.
As the psychic medium here says, "an obvious fake".
Quite spooky at first glance though.

Ahh yes..flashing back to all the times I was publically ridiculed by teachers who were just selflessly trying to educate me. NOT! Oh and now I'm an evil terrorist just for believing in the paranormal? What's next? Public burnings of ghost believers as witches who are seducing young people into the dark arts? Seems that's been tried before.

Thought crime in a totalitarian scientocracy? Shades of 1984, complete with it's own Newspeak where certain words like paranormal or freewill or transcendental are redefined out of existence? It never occurred to that science could be used just as as religion has, as an official state dogma that must be believed in under penalty of law. The censorship of subversive ideas. The demonization of the unscientific. Is that indeed what we are coming to? As the Who sang: "Meet the new boss..same as the old boss."

I suspect far less diabolical tactics here. I just think it is a case of seeing random figures in some smokey breath. Pareidolia is common in cases like this. I wish people knew how strongly we have the tendency to see figures and faces in chaotic patterns. We evolved that tendency to survive.

"This photo was received from Denise Russell. "The lady in the color photo is my granny," she says. "She lived on her own until age 94, when her mind started to weaken and had to be moved to an assisted living home for her own safety. At the end of the first week, there was a picnic for the residents and their families. My mother and sister attended. My sister took two pictures that day, and this is one of them. It was taken on Sunday, 8/17/97, and we think the man behind her is my grandpa who passed away on Sunday, 8/14/84.

We did not notice the man in the picture until Christmas Day, 2000 (granny had since passed away), while browsing through some loose family photos at my parents' house. My sister thought it was such a nice picture of granny that she even made a copy for mom, but still, nobody noticed the man behind her for over three years! When I arrived at my parents' house that Christmas day, my sister handed me the picture and said, "Who do you think this man behind granny looks like?" It took a few seconds for it to sink in. I was absolutely speechless. The black and white photos show that it really looks like him."

It is advanced photography. Like i said he instantly said double exposure and told me exactly how to do it.

The link below is all i can find but the first image gives you a good idea of similar techniques and all done with a camera. It state - Multiple exposure photography

    http://camyx.com/exposure/2013/07/silvia-grav-surrealism/

I will look for some more smokey double exposures.

Edited to add: Cameras are weird and can be very mysterious. People think they operate like a human eye would and that accounts for many UFO and ghost images.

Here is another interesting thing that can be done with a camera alone and no software manipulation necessary - Many of the images would not need any programs to manipulate the images at all...all done with a camera.

OK, doing a brief search revealed many beautiful images.

Here is one page that goes into some more detail.

    http://f2albertb.wordpress.com/

"Set up your tripod and camera and take your photo at 3 + different exposures so one normal photo with the optimum exposure for the photograph and one with a lower and high exposure. For my example i used two as there was a low range of colours/lights/shades"

I emphasized some key words in the above. For the effect the lower exposure (under exposed) is key.

Well looks like he was correct, props to the old codger.

Of course, you can go to a photography forum for further validation, bear in mind these techniques are not the norm so some may not know there either. Suffice it to say looks nothing more than "trick" photography.

I guess all "ghost" images are multiple exposure images, some craftier than others.

thanks for the info, stanley...and thanks for the additional photos, magical realist. i think that 'batch,' was the best you have shown us yet as potential evidence of 'something beyond' the normal.

No it isn't. It's just a cloud of smoke.

Could very well be, BUT i dont think that smoke reacts\looks that way especially the curves and at the ends. The ends get too transparent, for one and i think smoke just dissipates more abruptly. You could be right though, i am not the photographer so just going on an EXPERT opinion.

If it is smoke then where is it originating from?

I once had an orb problem with a security camera at night. Me and a bunch of friends would sit around watching the screen trying to figure out what was causing the effect we were seeing. We would even send someone out to look around and see if anything could be seen while the rest of us watched. We could plainly see the orbs around the person out there looking, but when he came back in, he didn't see any orbs or anything that could be causing them. Naturally the spirit topic came up and I refused to give it any credibility and continued looking for a solution to the problem. The camera was mounted high up in the garage looking through a hole made for that purpose. It was a real pain in the ass to move stuff out of the way so we could put a ladder up and climb up to check it out closely.

Damned if it wasn't a stupid little spider making a web in front of the lens. Cleaned out the spider and web and the orbs were gone.

There is always a non supernatural reason for everything you might see with a camera, be it live or in a picture. But for those of you that want to believe in BS answers, be my guest.

The breath of the photographer. Notice the snow on the ground?

MR, why are you so defensive of what you consider to be a more rational position in this case (that it is merely breath/smoke rather than multiple photos etc) yet are adamant that other examples of supposed paranormal activity are indeed paranormal and not merely mundane?
Your application of Occam's razor, or whatever tool you use to apply rationality to your thought process, seems to switch off at some point.
    Intriguing.

The first example doesn't fit. Using just a simple Method of translating the height of one image with the other, you can tell that it can't be the same guy because the height of both men is actually different. If it had been the Grandfather he would of had to stand about 2 metres away, where as the guy in the photo appears to be standing further back than that. Usually in such cases someone has an emotional tie and that effects their cognitive in regards to what they see. After all if someone doesn't have a loved one pass, would they still be as open to seeing spirits (especially of their non-deceased love ones?)

The photo doesn't look double exposed to me.
I agree with you. It could be breath, hanging on the air.

They are quite unusual weather conditions.
Look at the ice thickening on the trees.
Same kind of weather that brings down phone wires.

Please do so. Despite what your friend said, I doubt that you will find a double exposure that looks like swirling mist.
The mist in that photo does not look faked.
Perhaps he would like to fake a similar picture, and let us see the results.
