    Nonsense! I've always wanted a golf ball gun to scare the burglars away. It would be sort of like 'Uncle Buck', where the fat uncle is smacking golf balls at that bastard who cheated on his niece.

    Just so you can understand, I'll explain my point in a little more detail.

    Weapons are used to harm people. Weapons such as bombs and guns have little purpose other than to harm people (yes, yes, pest control etc. etc.)

    Posting instructions on how to make a bomb or how to construct a weapon is an essentially anti-social thing to do. It also promotes and potentially glorifies violence.

    When members sign up to sciforums, they explicitly undertake not to post violent material, among other things (pornography is another example). We are not a forum that advocates violence.

    A "golf-ball gun" may sound to you like a boy's toy, but it might be construed as a weapon. Hence, my cautionary note here. This thread is a borderline case, and I did not wish simply to shut down discussion.

    I hope you understand now.

    I understand that weapons are as likely to protect people as they are likely to harm people.

    I appreciate that not everyone should possess weaponry for any reason.

    I understand the need to keep this place weapons-free for its own protection.

    No posters were harmed by participation in this thread.
