I'm 13 and got 137.... not bad, but the test is rather bad itself. It asks for geographic and school knowledge. Everyone should know that, therefore a perfect idiot with no logic might score a 120, and a genius with no education a 95, lik,e someone said above...

To me, IQ is logic, not intelligence(knowing things like your country's capital city).

We are all intelligent, so there is no need for any additional IQ tests. Which would you rather prefer: accosting the average person, saying "I have a high IQ" and leave with the possibility of him/her thinking that you are arrogant, or doing something great for people, without associating yourself to such a number, until you are labelled a "genius" by others after you retire? I prefer the latter.

online tests are VERY unreliable. One had me scoring 118, and another 134. I understand the difference could be due to the differences in their construction, but all tests that purport to measure IQ and are based on the same statistical laws should give a person the same general score. Else, the test scores do lose meaning.

... in which case the problem has to do with improper norming.

Huh!? That test is flawed, I am certain I correctly answered every last question and still I only got an IQ of 140.
What more can I do than answer all questions correctly ?? lol
    It is too easy anyway..

Be careful in doing such online IQ (or any other online) test, especially
when it asks about your birth date or any other personal information...

    hi

Would like to find a really precise IQ test ? Click here:

    best-iq-test.com

The score you get with an IQ test is useless if the result is not compared with humans your actual age. Depending on the latest tests taken by men and women how old you are, our company quantify in real time all of the IQ scores in order to make the assessment of your own intelligence quotient extremely reliable. In addition to that, we allocate a rating based on the scientifically recognized Wechsler Scale where one hundred is definitely the average IQ.

No one really knows what Intelligence is. Some scientist will come out every few years with results that imply our current definition is wrong. I think the most recent definition is the ability to make decisions based on previous brain patterns, but your right, that has nothing to do with the capital of Chile.

In my experience it seems there are many types of intelligence: emotional intelligence, abstract intelligence, literary intelligence etc.

My cousin Curtis, for instance, can tell you all the details and intricacies of science, but he is clueless when it comes to emotional intelligence (especially social settings).

On the contrary, my best friend Nate is a social genius (absolutely BRILLIANT with people) but when it comes to abstract thought he is... lacking.

I can write a thought-provoking poem or a well-crafted short story, but when it comes to tasks like fixing things (autoparts, sinks) I am borderline retarded.

It is possible that intelligence is not varied at all, and that my cousin, my best friend, and I have merely channeled our minds in different directions.

Ultimately though I relate intelligence to general awareness or mental clarity, the ability to recognize patterns/cause and effect, and how quickly one can receive and make sense of information.

I think anyone with high intelligence would realize the inherent flaws with IQ tests. Personally, I don't need a scored test to identify my abilities. I already know.

I don't think many of these tests measure functional, usable intelligence. I think they measure arbitrary skillsets. Kind of the intellectual equivalent of turning your eyelids inside out. You can show it off to your friends, but it isn't USEFUL.

I scored really high on a lot of these, and was classified as gifted. I never found any subject that easy, though. Yes, I did well, but I'm no Marilyn vos Savant. I'd like to see tests that more accurately reflect the usable intelligence someone has, not little "splinter" skills.

Intelligence tests are made to hone in on g, or general intelligence, which is pretty close to what can be considered 'useful'. True, you'll find people with very high IQs who are useless, but on average, you'll find that the 'whatever-it-is' which IQ measures is an extremely important and useful human quality. And the more of it you have, the better.
