Having spent 7 years in the Marines, I would have to say that, we aren't necessarily superior; it's just that our mission and training are a bit different.

The Marines, as far as all 5 branches of the armed forces are concerned, are special forces by nature. We are essentially a quick reaction force. We can have a whole regiment (about 6000 Marines, AND their equipment) anywhere in the world within 24 hours. The Army cannot deploy that fast.
We go in and destroy/seize whatever our mission dictates, and hold it until the Army can get there.
Our boot camp is longer; 12 weeks compared to 8 for most Army boot camps. Our training is a bit more specialized. We also put more emphasis on rifle marksmanship than the other branches. Our yearly rifle qualification includes 500 yard distance shooting. The Army only goes up to 300 yards.
So I wouldn't say that we are superior (although some Marines are arrogant and think so). We just have a different overall mission that does require a bit more discipline and specialized training.
Example, the regular Army infantry does not get the specialized training and extra discipline that the Army Rangers get. I'd say the Marines' infantry gets similar level training as the Rangers. I was not a grunt so I can't go into specifics of exactly how infantry was trained.

Plus, the Army has no uniform that is anywhere near as pimp as our dress blue uniforms!

 

Cool, i've heard alot of random comments which have suggested that the Marines are a more superior force in comparision to the army. Like in family guy , Lois suggested that Meg should sleep with a marine because they are 'real men'. Thanks for the explanation
