Yes, I did notice that it is a Christian site. If I had gone to a pro-gay site, I'm sure the facts would have been presented differently. They did cite an older study, which would have been a better line of criticism on your part than simply bashing my link because it led to a Christian site. At least they presented something more than just their bias opinions.

Here's another one for you, Bells. You wont like it, but I think a little diversity is important to this thread.

I appreciate that answer. Part of the tactic is to kill the messengers instead of address their message. It all about emotional appeal (por pitiful me) and intimidation to silence opposition; expulsion as a threat. The comment above attacks the messenger, with misinformation, worse than anything I said, yet, there is no outcry for censor due to the intimidation dual standard.

I never said kill homosexuals, but have said I have homosexual friends who see me as a friend. Homophobia is a tactic used to silence anyone who dares to address the tactic with logic or facts. I am going after the tactic not the human. Racist and male chauvinist pig or both stereo-types uses to censor anyone who does not go along with the agenda, also. I used to be a liberal but left when it became a con. I originally like the goals but the tactics started to feel like I was a deceptive thug.

You are linking to sites that promote 'praying away the gay' or counseling the gay away.

    "Develop your heterosexual potential"..

    What the hell?

Here is something you should know about conversion therapy or the pray away the gay:

Some more reading for you: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...nversion-reparation-and-reorientation-therapy

So next time you want to link rubbish, don't expect to be taken seriously.

A thought occurred to me one day... Maybe if we gave people equal rights we might perhaps have less parades.

You might be right. One afterall only effectively asserts one's pride in an atmosphere of oppression and condemnation. But realistically, I think there will always be homophobia in our society. Even after we get all the same rights as everyone else, there will always be a subclass of haters out there who think we are inferior creatures and should be treated as such. For that reason alone the parades should continue. They are an ongoing counteraction to all efforts to marginalize and demonize us. It is an "in your face" defiance of the endless attempts by some, especially the religious, to push us back into the closet and to delegitimize our existence.

Happy "International Homophobia Awareness Day" May 17th

"Hostility towards homosexuals, men and women, has unfortunately always existed. What’s new is that people are more aware of its existence and have started denouncing it. The mere absence of the word homophobia for so many years clearly illustrates society’s refusal to recognize the legitimacy of a sexual orientation that was thought to be abnormal.

Homophobia stems from individual, social, and systemic prejudice. It reveals a real hostility for or exclusion of homosexual persons, men and women, which has repercussions on every walks of life.

Like all attitudes and behaviour based on prejudice and hatred, such as sexism or misogyny, racism and antisemitism, homophobia has no serious foundation. It comes from one’s and society’s inability to grasp the differences of others, which are then perceived as a threat to individuals, and, consequently, society in general. Some secular and religious movements even pretend that full legal and social recognition of homosexuality will put the perpetuation of the human race in peril. Homophobia’s premise is that homosexuality is inferior, abnormal and marginal."---http://www.homophobiaday.org/

    "Develop your heterosexual potential"..

I tried "developing my heterosexual potential" with a few women back in the eighties. Nothing ever developed from it. Sexual desire isn't so much about who you have sex with. It's about who you have to think about to reach orgasm with them.

You say homophobia is simply a card pulled to silence the truth, yet you've failed repeatedly to explain exactly what this truth is. So go ahead, tell us what the truth is.

If your "homosexual friends" could read the posts you have made in this thread so far, I'm pretty sure they'd no longer be your friends.

And that is not something you can help or should help.

Touting it as 'therapy' when the reality is that it is dangerous and can lead to all sorts of issues.

And he is referring us to these sites for information about gays.

    Awww.. Poor you.

People who object to the terminology usually feel victimised by their own bigotry. In other words, if you aren't a homophobe, you should not fear the word.

It isn't used to silence you. It is used to describe your attitude towards other people. The fact that you view people's sexuality as an agenda speaks volumes.

Would you rather nothing be said or done to the treatment of gays in society? Because heaven forbid a straight white male feels victimised by his own bigotry.

    That is not true.
The application of the the term "homophobia" is either merited or it isn't. Misuse of the term does not invalidate sound usage.
Whose agenda are you talking about? Do you think that all the people who use the term "racist" have the same agenda?
No, you obviously never were a liberal - just as you never were an evolutionary biologist, a physicist, or anything else requiring familiarity with concepts and viewpoints you do not understand and cannot describe accurately.
You are a deceptive thug in that fashion now, using the terms "liberal" and "feminist" and so forth with hostile intent and in obvious ignorance of the relevant facts as well as logic in general.

It's true that one can in theory object to homosexuality or disapprove of it without being homophobic. The observation that such a stance is vanishingly rare in real life is supported by its absence here.

So that's your response? To use anti-gay slurs against us?

Do you suppose you've circumvented the rules by linking to a list of the offensive words rather than using them yourself? Or is it just that you don't actually have the balls to say them for yourself? Either way, I hope you enjoy a nice, long vacation from this place.

Golly, I hope you weren't offended. I much feel the same about the use of "Homophobe." But hey, we don't all agree.

It might be time to move on. If Bells decides to ban me, so be it. If you silence enough people, you can all just nod at each other in agreement. Enjoy.

"Homophobe" describes your attitude towards homosexuals. "Fag" and "bull dyke" are slurs, and against the rules.

It's no coincidence that all bigots view themselves as martyrs.

Might be, but then where will you go? It's becoming increasingly difficult for haters like you to find a legitimate place in this world. If you're lucky maybe can you get on with some neonazi forum or perhaps a religious fundamentalist website. Little pockets of darkness here and there still holding out against an increasingly enlightened world.

I suppose that if I agreed with everything being said here, I could join the ranks of the "enlightened," but I'd much rather be an individual an follow my own mind. I don't mind listening to parrot, however: I know where it's coming from.

Really though, I enjoy the contradictions of this place, which is why I come here. It would be a shame if it became a monotone mantra.

I love how bigots like Bowser have deluded themselves into believing that we'd all be agreeing on everything if it weren't for their disgusting worldview.

Matthew Shepard was a gay man who was tortured and killed by two people because he was gay. Were those two murderers just poor, misunderstood victims who were trying to address the issues with logic and facts?

So the KKK - same thing? They are just ordinary Joes being oppressed by liberal thugs, who label them "racists" because they do not go along with the PC agenda?

Do you really think there is no homophobia or racism in the US?
