Have there been any studies correlating crime with a competitive environment?

    So they were grabbing more resources even though they were already granted an abundance of resources to live well?

    Or were they stealing to supplement inadequate resources for living well?

    In other words, were they stealing to survive/basic comfort or were they stealing for luxury and extravagance?

    Any kind of stats on white collar crime would be helpful.

    Research the Soviet Union people living standards compared to the officals.
