While schoo' vs. school is explicable with the particular positions in the sound environment; went vs. wizzay isn't. Went vs. wizzay is most likely due to rhyme -- so if anything, special phonological rules are at work here, rules that are generated by text properties, not just by phonological rules that would apply irregardless of text. It is interesting though.
