Finally getting around to the obligatory, introductory post. I'm Brett, from Peters Creek, Alaska. I'm currently a moderator on a space/astronomy forum and while I'm quite happy there, I've been looking for another forum where I can be just a member. It certainly doesn't hurt to have another source and another perspective. My science background is both applied and casual: I maintained avionic sensors (IR imaging, laser designators, etc.) for more than half of my USAF career; I'm an on again, off again (mostly off) armchair astronomer of the most casual stripe; and I have or had other diverse sciencey interests such as charcuterie and model rocketry.
