Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for
my being able to see and to hear this morning.
I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an
understanding God. You have done so much for me
and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said
or thought that was not pleasing to You.
I ask now for Your forgiveness.

If it be according to Your will, please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

If it be according to Your will, please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil.

And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my
mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember
Jesus' example to slip away and find a quiet place to pray.
It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.

I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart.
Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak.
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for
    others.

I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You intimately.
I pray for those that don't believe.
But I thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and
every family member in their households. If it be according to Your will, I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes and that all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is
no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.

If it be according to Your will, I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and that every mouth confesses them willingly.

    Blonde_cupid,

It makes me feel very uncomfortable when I witness anyone who submits to embarrassment by openly praying. The sentiments of the prayer are often well intentioned, but the realization that the person praying believes that something supernatural is listening and might even do something; is something I find incredulous.

I experienced the same feeling when I used to pray many years ago. The result was just a feeling of stupidity.

    Cris,

You and I are very much opposites in a number of ways.

I am prone to attribute a state of stupidity to the first half of my life when I was not open to God*.

Contrary to being embarassed, during this second half of my life, I have been much more comfortable with God* in my life.

    Are we friends?

Mmmkay, Cris, what I would do in your situation is pray to Cthulu.

I too feel rather, embarassed when people invoke the supernatural. Especially when they promise to 'pray for me'. Thanks, Blonde, I suppose. Sweet sentiment.

So, here is a prayer to Cthulhu.

Oh great one who has screamed blasphemies at the airless moons
Who knows well the secrets of sunken R'leth
    And the halls of Eblis

Highest of the Shoggoth Lords, we thank you
    For this coffee
Diluted with yummy cream and sugar
    For the internet
Which allows us both to learn and to prodigiously waste our time
    For hangovers
Which are really annoying and we are glad we avoided one

    And Cthulhu, forgive me.
    I have been remiss
I have yet to sacrifice a virgin in your honor
But Cthulu! Consider the times! And they object for some reason!
    I have no idea why

    Cthulhu, Elder God, Great One
Keep our friends and our familys safe
    Please do not eat them
And, lend a tentacle when they are in trouble

Oh he who screams blasphemies at an uncaring cosmos
Keep these people, on this forum, safe
    Especially the ones we like
    Please do not eat them
And lend a tentacle when they are in trouble

Cthulu! Tentacled denizen of the deep
As I, Xev, priestess and adherent to the 69 Scriptures of Cthulu (okay, I made that part up)
Ask you, Great Cthulhu, to fulfill this prayer
    Ia! Cthulhu! Ia! Ia!

    Your signature is spelt incorrectly.

    Xev,

The Cthulhu myth definitely looks like more fun than the Christian myth. Mainly I think because the Christians haven’t yet recognized that their beliefs are based on a myth and they tend to take their stuff seriously, and that is definitely very boring.

Ok I’ll take a look at Cthulhu.

    Have fun

    Xev,

    Oh OK.

And Cthulhu, is definitely a myth right? Or should I pretend otherwise if I'm to take part in the spirit of this?

Oh! It changes my signature for all posts!

    Cris:

Well, taking Christian mythology seriously is either boring or dangerous.

The Bible and the atrocities commited for Christianity, are much more horrifying than anything H.P Lovecraft could have dreamed.

Cthulhu is a myth, but don't tell him I said so.

While you are at it, the Church of the Subgenius makes an excellent joke religion. It is, however, considerably harder to understand.

And there's less room to make things up.

    Xev,

Yes and I have frequently posted elsewhere in these forums the dangers of believing in a lie.

Ok a big question: Cthulhu – how does one pronounce that?

    And I promise I won’t mention the m--- issue.

    Xev,

Ah ha I see. Good enough, it seems it doesn't really matter. But now I do have a way that feels comfortable.

Oh, Lovecraft. What a guy. What an imagination. The At the Mountains of Madness, think thats what it was called, was my favorite. Anyways, I don't see the problem in people believing in God. Um...that's the Christian God, not the Ancient Ones I mean.

I do not see any difference in believing between christian god Yahve(sp) and the ancient ones , really there is no difference, only maybe the Cthulhu version is a bit more believable

    Ia! Ia! Cthulhu!

HEY! Cthulhu and the Elder Gods are waaay nicer than Yawah!

They are at least indifferent, do not advocate genocide or rape, and are content to kill only a few humans.....at a time.
