A friend of mine asked me for help on this. Sadly, I didn't know what to do for him. The problem is as followed:
I installed the ATI driver for Fedora Core 6 Linux only to find that it didn't solve my problem of not being able to use a screen resolution that fit my widescreen monitor such as 1680x1024 or something like that, and that instead it just made the screen small on my monitor so i uninstalled the ATI driver and the kernel module that came with it, and it's back to normal now except now i have these little white pixel-sized specks flitting across the screen like very small amounts of TV static.
He's running 64-bit architecture, by the way.
