    X and Y can be found easily using the following formula:

    Code:

    X=Y+X-Y

    Y=X+Y-X

    X/Y can be found because they are already known!

    Another method for finding X/Y is to KNOW Y where X=1, and multiplying it by X

    Code:

    e.g

    1234
    2468

    2*4=8

    OR

    Y*X

    Dear Algebra:

    Quit asking me to find your x. She's gone and not coming back. And don't ask y.

    Yes it is easy to find X and Y because they can be any real number.

    Simplifying the above equations you get:

    X = X

    and

    Y = Y

    So Y = 5 and X = 10 works

    and Y = 10 and X = 5 works.

    I guess the question is what number doesn't satisfy the equation?
