Basically there are settings in the forum software that decide on when things update, obviously on a busy board (Such as this) the option isn't ticked to be immediate as this can cause board congestion like increased load time and even database errors on the rare occasion. So it's placed into what is referred to as a CRON event (Chronological event) where it and many other updates are done at specific times, like for instance every 10 minutes or 1/2 hour.
