I think you infer to much. He did the honorable thing. He did the right thing. If he stayed, it would have given the Republicans a non issue to divert the discussion from the issues as they have done succesfully so many times in the past. This is not about if he did right or wrong. It is about removing a distraction. I expect the Republicans will do this again in spades as we get closer to November. BUT I think the populace is begining to understand the tactic. And I know Obama's staff understands it. That is why they moved so fast. The old Swift Boat tactic aint gonna hunt this year.
it means using someone as a sacrificial lamb in a sense. your using it as if it means just canning someone. also if he were thrown under the bus he would have been fired not resigned
