The Movie Industry has made some thrilling scenes of plummeting elevators, and the death and destruction waiting on those trapped in a falling elevator is taken as an established fact. Can anyone provide a reputable and verifiable report of such an accident ever happening? I'm sure there have been falls down elevator shafts, and maintenance men killed, but has any person ever died in an uncontrolled elevator fall?
