Escaping from superficiality

    Here we go again with another obscenely commercialized Christmas season. All the hype now focused like a laser beam on saccharine emotions of giftgiving, nostalgia, hedonistic orgies of self-indulgence, and religious undertones of holy reverence. Don't you ever want to just turn off the hype for once and enjoy an entirely nonsuperficial moment? How do you do that? How do we get away from society's relentless pressure to feel and be a certain way, a one in a billion consumerist zombie prompted by the baubles and trinkets of a mass produced materialistic culture?
