So, you are saying that depression can simply be a certain outlook someone has regardless of their emotional/mood state? I personally do not agree with this. I think that the only way to perceive any negative quality in your life is through your negative moods/emotions.

I'm saying depression is a clinical illness, like Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia. You don't treat them by "changing your mood".

Mental illness is not - and should not be - a matter of "personal opinion".

You are spreading medical mis-information that could be harmful to others.

Again, I never said that it is a simple matter of changing your mood. Yes, I do think that depression is a negative mood/emotional state. But you are right when you say that it is not as easy as thinking happy thoughts or going outside to try to change your mood.

    It isn't; it's a chemical-neurological state.

Which, in turn, is a depressed mood (a negative mood state). It's different than a normal mood since depression is a negative mood state that tends to be chronic and very difficult to recover from.

No, it is not. It is a chemical imbalance.

This is my time to step back, and hope that the Mods move this is a more appropriate forum.
