i picked up morrowind for $10 after hearing that it was bigger than oblivion, but the graphics are almost unbearable.
Maybe we have different approaches on the RPG? You ever spend hours in one spot, mindlessly killing stuff to get enough gold/xp/whatever to become more powerful? This is called grinding, and it does not require skill. It requires patience and time. Do you view this sort of activity cheating?
It's a form of cheating. And boring, like I said. It goes against the whole spirit of the game. It depends whether you're out to enjoy the game or "beat" it, I guess. Some people can get an ego boost out of showing a mindless computer game that they're smarter than it. Good luck to them. I don't see the point, myself.
Some games require grinding. Virtually all MMORPGs do. Being able to defeat the uber-bosses in RPGs, like the Weapons of FF7, requires the same thing. Pokemon didn't. I liked Pokemon. I consider the need to grind to successfully pass challenges more of a deficiency in the game rather than the player. Though putting a rubberband on the controller and walking into a wall would be cheating. It's essentially the same as a bot.
Where as if such glitch is caught during Beta or Identified for future updates they'd be patches against them. In most cases the One Player games rarely have such updates as Multiplayer games require patching to maintain "Fairness" since people are "competing".
I wonder what your opinion is of 'skillful cheating'. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I just got Oblivion And i'm not impressed Maybe cause i'm not a huge Fantasy Fan. Zelda's the shiz but that's about it... I'm still deciding whether or not to keep the game....
what is up with the dissing of this game? this game is a heck of a lot better than most every game i've ever played. it's just, once you play it for like 150+ hours, you get tierd of it. but it still retains the same flavor. also the ps3 to answer some posters is going to bring it out fot that system. i hope u guys have as much fun with this game as i did. can't wait for the 5th oblivion, or some "game of the year" editions for this version, can't wait to have a reason to play it again..
i got this game the other day, and am absolutely impressed. i have only done a fraction of the beginning of the storyline....im disappointed in the looting. not much gear to steal straightaway..my thief is level 9, and has NO difficulty sneaking anywhere.
The repetition is a nightmare in most MMORPG's, sadly. When I was a hardcore runescape player I was spending hours a day doing the same things. In real life, I don't need to steal cakes about 400 times before I can progress to stealing silk. =/
Grinding IS stupid. I ruined my morrowind experience, not by cheating but by picking an unbalancedly powerful class(custom spellsword). I got so bored of slaughtering everything(without even using magic), then I found the boots of flying and just went and killed the end boss. I was pretty pissed at myself. I killed my own immersion. Is it just me or does the current average gamer lack imagination? Does the average current Developer lack imagination?
im not sure if im missing a big chunk of the game, but this is pretty much just morrowind with better graphics. there doesnt seem to be alot more area, to be honest. the fast-travelling kind of spoils the atmosphere of the game. i just beat the game with my level 7 thief. ghey.
