Oh come on, are you telling me that those who question me on Quranic verses here are not questioning me?
So when you tell the vast majority of Muslims (all of them in fact) in Holland to tear up their religious book, what are you really telling them?
A Dutch politician who asked for the Quran to be banned as a hate book. And who is permitted to say that all Muslims are potential terrorists if they follow the Quran (which pretty much all Muslims do).
Its lost on those who follow it. If I say the Netherlands is a country that potentially breeds anti-Islam and anti-Muslim bigotry, I am sure the sentiment I am invoking would not be lost on you.
So he didn't actually tell them to tear it up, right.. ? By the way the government is looking in the matter as to what they can do to stop the movie from being published..
No, I would agree.. It would be a different thing if you would say that everyone that lives in Holland is anti-Islam.
That does not stop the sentiment that is being invoked by the film and I doubt that stopping the film from being released in the Netherlands will make any difference.
Because in that specific, defined, and unique area they have what they consider good reason to impose special, unique, and limited restrictions counter to the general principles that hold everywhere else. Do you wish for such circumstances to hold for Muslims in the Netherlands ? Do you feel that Muslims are being targetted by not having been included in that particular kind of historical event, along with the Jews of the Netherlands ?
I think the Dutch government should take steps to educate the Dutch people on Islam and on Islamophobia in Dutch society and its effects and possible far reaching damage to Dutch society. Merely regulating hate speech solves nothing.
