Another fine bit of intellectual deception. Rather, the Iraqis felt the Christians were sufficiently "oppressed" (Q 9: 29) and, therefore, not legitimate targets. But the paranoia seemingly inherent to islam appears to have convinced some proportion of the local haters that the Christians must be in cahoots with the (ahem) "Crusaders". Ergo, legitimate targets. Frankly, it's my experience of the literature that the flimisiest excuse will do for a pogrom of Christians by islamicists. Invasion? Excuse.

Do they pay the protection tax when they go? Hmmm...one wonders.

That's a little thing we call "Divide and Conquer". We have become very good at it. We play oneside against the other until they start killing themselves. Very enjoyable. Then we make the world think that they are nothing more that savage, inhuman animals not yet ready to rule themselves. In this way, we can stay in a country as long as we please, steal every drop of resources they have and no one complains. Smart, aren't we?

Yeah the Catholic Monarchs wanted to maintain a religious majority. Like Israel.

Were they? Small and meek? Weren't the majority settled in the city of Jerusalem and constituted the richest portion of teh population?
