There is no "Heaven for animals". It's only for humans. They just cease to exist. Isn't that amazing. They actually might have it right, except with humans.

They're displaying mating rituals, and mallard boys will do it. They're totally doing it.

I tried that bullshit on my mother this weekend regarding my own sex life, and she's right.

    Say hello to papa tube.

Female ducks instinctively know who to mate with but male ducks mate with whoever is standing over them when they hatch. This can lead to all manner of bizarre preferences so its hard to say if they are gay or just miss-bonded.

But there is lots of homo/lezzie action out there.

A number of frogs have done away with guys altogether. The females hump each other to stimulate egg laying or get males from other species to help. But all the young are female clones.

Then there is a species of fish with the ultimate transgender dream. The males keep a harem of females and then when the male dies the biggest female changes her sex and takes over.

This boring xtian stuff just ain't Natural!

Frankly there is all kinds of behavior which fails to really interest me if we are lacking a marked preference in me over time.

Dang and here I was going to be gay for you.

Oh well, it wouldn't have worked out, I'm not into feathers.

Quite a number of species use homosexual males and females as well as delayed maturation and delayed pair bonding to keep the breeding population down in areas were resources are scarce and it requires multiple members to raise the young.

Homosexual members are a breeding asset, albeit an indirect one. They keep a larger number of males in particular about for dangerous bits like hunting while removing them from the fractious mating competitions. They don't have young so they are less of a burden to the group, but they can act as helpers and fall back parents and in a pinch they can still breed. Because they are closely related to the members of the group, their genetic success is tied more directly to the group's.

I have little doubt that with the significant portion of the population which is homosexual that there are significant evolutionary advantages.

    Try that on your mom.

It would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between increase in homosexual activity and decrease in birthrate. Do some species commit suicide by gaydom?

    Haha.

I wonder if they chose their names before or after they found out they were gay.

The point is that this type of behavior might have some other purposes as well.
No one says all bonobo's are gay..

Oh, that's boy ass in that profile picture. HEY, if your wife's as cute as you are, who can keep a secret? This girl can.

That is interesting info. Thank you. I'm curious if this occurs with meerkats.

Perhaps homosexuality in humans is a remnant of ape sexual-social behavior.
