I think there is a problem of terminology here.

We are talking about artificial intelligence. I'd say we need to come to an agreement on what constitutes "artificial".

I would say the crux of the issue is that it must be created by an intelligence - as opposed to naturally (say, by natural Darwinian selection).

Note that there is nothing stopping an artificial intelligence from creating its own artificial intelligences, so it doesn't have to have been created by biological intelligence.

 

Uh - no. No, it's not. Early AI (single layer neural networks) were designed as purely mathematical constructs. Only recently has the structure of the brain informed design of deep neural networks.

 

The point is that this is a meaningless statement:

"So far" I have only ever seen white swans.
By your logic, I might declare that black swans cannot exist.

Black swans do exist, it just happens that I have never seen one.

In the same light, just because the one example of AI we know of happens to have arisen from the one example of life that we know of, does not mean you can extrapolate that to mean it "must" be so.

So far, yes. But even today many of the devices you use were designed by machines, not people.

 

People , Life , designed the machines that desigined machines .

 

While that is true, it cannot be used as a predictor of events in the future - any more than I can predict I will "never" see a black swan.

Since this question is about what may/will come about in the future, your point is kind of moot.

Diagnosis: He sees himself now isolated from the sciences, due to his continued posting of rubbish and unsupported nonsense, and even getting warnings in the fringes for trolling. Consequently after his pretentious playing the victim for so long, he sees his future here as bleak, and needs to go out in a blaze of glory, so to speak [at least in his troubled mind] which he'll wear like a badge of honour as he searches the net for any other site prepared to entertain his nonsense and pseudoscience, as this place has for so long.
