I believe that everyone is different and some people are better at having a good memory than others because most tests are based on memorization of stuff. There are also many people who do poorly on certain tests than others. I don't think that any test should be able to tell everyone whether you are a smart or a genius.
Sam. If intelligence is the ability to solve problems, ie survive. Then why are there: More non-whites than whites. More women than men (narrowly) More theists than non theists (hugely) Also, why has your stupid boss got to be in charge of you?

My empirical observation is that IQ tests have at least some validity. People have always readily demonstrated to me that they are significantly smarter than the people who score ten points lower and significantly less smart than the ones who score ten points higher. They demonstrate this in their understanding of what's going on around them and in their ability to formulate solutions to problems. However I've seen enough IQ tests to agree that they have a cultural bias. The domain from which the tests of understanding and problem solving are taken is the culture of the people who write the test, or in a more enlightened (smarter?Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!) group, an attempt to reflect the culture of the people who will be taking the test. I still remember the question on the IQ test I took several decades ago: If Trevor has three pounds eight shillings ninepence ha'penny and buys a hat for his mum that costs two guineas, how much money will he have left? These are not the original details but I'm not exaggerating. I happened to understand the English monetary system (including a guinea, which is 21 shillings, one more than a pound) but I'm sure I beat out most of my American colleagues. If members of one cultural group score lower than those of another, it's because their culture has less in common with that of the people who developed the test. This is not to deny the possibility that true differences exist between communities, but merely to assert that we'll never find those differences with today's IQ tests. IQ tests are also weighted heavily toward abstract cognitive skills rather than practical ones. I know several Mensa members who never fail to impress me with their erudition, but they've made complete messes of their lives. Then then... By the way, IQ test has real meaning only up to a certain age, since it measures your smartness against your agegroup. Once you are an adult the same approach doesn't apply.... Example: a 6 year old with a 200 IQ is as smart as most 12 year olds. You can't say the same about a 30 year old with a 200 IQ....

Thats okay, I started this thread because when I scientifically questioned the validity of IQ tests in this thread, the posts were deleted. I want to know if those athiests who think they are smarter, also believe that women and blacks are dumber. Apparently, it is unscientific to question the validity of a premise if it insinuates that theists are dumb.
What is your opinion of studies that compare IQ test results between men and women, blacks and whites, theists and athiests? Are those results valid? Is it possible to believe [for example] that theists are dumber than atheists on the basis of such tests, while rejecting that women are dumber than men and blacks are dumber than white based on the same tests?
