Maybe I'll change and start liking blob faced ugly men because they're nice on the inside, but I highly doubt that

'Sane' people do not make a rational and reasoned decision to go on a murderous spree.

I don't care what mental state people perceive him to have before the incident, but as he planned it, talked about it, and nearly enacted it previously, is clearly wasn't just a single moment of madness, the guy was insane, period.

But please, if you want to argue the point, defend rationally with full supporting reasoning, why it's OK to walk into a gym and murder some strangers.

I don't defend the act, but I defend the man's freedom to do it!

Or do some of y'all want to lock up people who "might" do something in the future? If we see some guy that looks "funny", we arrest him, try him for what we think he could or might do, then throw his ass in jail? Is that what y'all want?

You fucking what Max? Defend the right of people to go on a murderous spree? Have YOU lost your mind?

Typical Max, abstraction to absurdity, and again, asking a question, and offering no solution himself. Fucking hell Max, do you ever make a decision, or do you ask other people what should be on your grocery list?

How would you have taken away his freedom? On what grounds would you have held him prisoner? On what grounds would you have kept him for making legal purchases of the guns?

Freedom means a lot more than just YOUR freedom or the freedom to do nice things. Freedom means allow others that same freedom that you enjoy ....even if they don't do as you do. Just like you, that guy was free to walk into that gym. And just like you, he was free to pull out his guns and shoot. You didn't shoot, but he did.

And you want to take away freedoms of millions of other people because of what that one man did?

Life is chocked full of abstractions. And, in fact, one of the worst things that one can do is to view things/issues in total isolation ...if you do, you'll be wrong.

No solution? I certainly implied one ....let people who want to kill other people do it. There simply ain't no way to stop them that doesn't take tons of freedoms from other people ...people who would never do such things in the first place. You simply can't condemn and punish others for the acts of one man.

I didn't say I would. You however said you defended his freedom to murder people.

    I didn't say I would.

    I didn't say I would.

    I didn't say I wanted that.

ONE man Max? Sorry, how many gun homicides are there in the USA each year? It's not the work of ONE MAN!

Now Max, instead of stuffing that straw man with more flaccid questions, how about you actually say something?

I do. Are you saying that you don't defend his freedom????? If not, why not?

So, ....now that you've attacked me for my viewpoint and suggestions, how would you solve this so that no one else can ever do it again?

Well, you are, at any rate.
Plenty of people have had hard lives and deal with it. If you can't, then of what use are you to society?

Go talk to some people in somalia and tell me what a hard life is. So you can't get laid, big deal. You probably have a trailer, electricity, clean water and a 34cm TV... minimum.
Spare me your crap about "hard". The word is "weak". The word is "flawed".

Funny how all these "mental illnesses" Asguard is so enamoured of only seem to occur in civilised western society.

no, actually they dont. Wether the diognosis is made or not they exist world wide. There are differences in how some of them express though, for instance people of asian background tend to present with physical symptoms (like unidentifided stomic pains) rather than saying they feel depressed.

That doesnt mean mental illness doesnt exist though, i suggest you look up the WHO statistics on the prevlance of mental illness

But that could be because of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. If you are starving, being friendless and alone is not your foremost concern. You are going to spend all of your mental and physical energy trying to find food. But once your material needs are satisfied, you will then be up against your emotional ones. So yes, I would expect emotional problems/mental illness to be more common in western societies, which seem to be good at fulfilling the material needs people have, but not quite so good at the emotional ones.

Defend his freedom to murder people. OF COURSE NOT.

Well, in the UK we have to pass a psychometric test before we are allowed to own firearms. Sure, it doesn't stop gun owners going crazy, but it stops crazies from becoming gun owners.

And I haven't attacked you for your viewpoint. You hardly ever express one, and when you do, it's so absurd I don't believe you really think what you say, and are just trolling.

And we come back to the question that comes up every time something like this happens, "Why did he do it?" I once saw a comedian address this, and I've referred back to it ever since. "Because he was a fucking psycho, that's why!"

If he were alive to explain himself, I don't believe there is anything he could say that would make me think. "Oh, well that makes sense. Once you explain it that way, who could argue that opening fire on a group of innocent women in an aerobics class was anything but completely logical?"

What freedom would you take from all of the citizens to have prevented that guy from murdering all those women? I mean, how would you prevent the ONE guy from doing it while still allowing freedom for the others to walk into the gym?

From what I've read about this guy (among many others!) is that such a test would NOT have singled him out as "crazy" or "mentally ill" or whatever. The test you use in the UK ...is it proven to be accurate? Do you have some evidence that the test actually works and singles out crazies? Why haven't we heard about this marvelous new test?

I would also wonder how you'd prevent people from getting guns ILLEGALLY? I doubt that many gun smugglers would use the crazy test before selling the gun. So all you've done is taken the freedoms from some people but have solved nothing.

The best one I've heard yet is, supposedly, some serial killer in the past was interviewed about it numeruous times. He kept saying, over and over that he didn't know, etc. ...skirting the question. Finally, he looked at the interviewer and the camera and said, "Hey, I just wanted to do it. Why is that so hard to understand?"

See? We can't understand such desires. It's just not inside us to grasp it. And yet it might well be just that simple. I mean, think about it, ...why did you go out in the middle of the night and drive down to the store to get, say, an ice cream cone? See? You just wanted to an fuckin' ice cream cone. Few would think that you were crazy to do that. This guy went out in the night with his guns to go down to the gym to kill some women. See?

We keep saying or thinking the words "crazy" or "insane", but those are only words with little real meaning in situations like this. But scientists just might think that YOU were crazy or insane to have gone out in the middle of the night to get that ice cream cone.

I suggest you get a grip on reality.
Go to Africa. Live there. Deal with the crap they have to deal with for a good ten years.

Then come back here and tell me about all these poor people with "mental health issues".

In short, grow up and get some perspective.
And before you ask, or decide to use it as an attack on me - yes I have. Lived there, dealt with it, and seen it... as opposed to the theoretical crap they taught you in school.
Yes, mental problems exist. I'm simply tired of you goddamned western pussies using it as an excuse for your lack of capability to cope. what is the flavour of the month these days? Is it still ADD, or have you found something new to justify your helplessnesss with?

So you are saying all people who kill are 'insane'? What about rapists? Paedophiles? Psychopathy and sociopathy are considered 'personality disorders' but not insanity, its an indication of who they are, they're lack of conscience. Sodini like Dahmer knew what he was doing.

"But Palermo said that was not evidence of delusional thinking. "He knew what he was doing," he said. "Jeffrey Dahmer is a sick person, but he's not psychotic."
